2. Christians despise idols, unless the idols are our own. Jesus was not as much concerned about idols as about hypocrisy, abuses of wealth and iniquities. We sometimes hate idols of our neighbors with gusto because we try to convince ourselves we are not idol-worshippers. And of course, our favorite sports teams and heroes are not idols; we know how to prioritize our talents and time. ("Right." - wink wink)
3. What do Christians like me and insane people have in common: we talk to ourselves. I have to talk to myself especially when driving so that I do not cuss drivers I judge, insult and refuse to love as my neighbors.
Shalom, and have a blessed week. The Lord is our Ransom; Jesus loves, forgives and dies for us every day ...sometimes every second so that we may live fully. Amen

I think we all talk to ourselves! I think that is just human nature! Sometime I'm the only one who listens to what I say so I have to talk outloud to myself!
I guess I was guilty of idolising sports stars more so when I was younger, and now that I am getting older probably guilty of talking to myself on occasion, great writing on this the latest of your Aphorisms.

Wise words. Glad I'm not the only one who talk to myself! :-)
It is a good thing to talk to oneself, I decided. I even answer the "correct" answers some times too. TX for this . Now I know I am not alone! Blessings!
