Aphrodisiacs: Ways to Help Increase Your Sex Drive and Make Sex More Pleasurable

Adren Aline
An aphrodisiac is an agent that increases sexual arousal, desire and helps to makes sex more pleasurable. The word "aphrodisiac" derives from the Greek Goddess of Sensuality, Aphrodite. Throughout history, many foods, drinks, wines and behaviors have had a reputation of making sex more attainable, desirable and/or more pleasurable. However, from a scientific standpoint, many have had their desired results simply because that's what the user expects from them. In other words, aphrodisiacs are thought to be placebos. Anyway, they're fun and healthy so it's worth a peek. All of the following are foods or drugs which an aphrodisiac effect has been attributed.
  1. Oysters
  2. Turtle eggs: Eaten raw with salt and lime juice. (Yuck!)
  3. Arginine
  4. Red Wine: Any wine is best combined with chocolate
  5. Pink Wine: Wine relaxes and helps to stimulate our senses
  6. White Wine: Drink in moderation, remember too much wine can have an adverse effect.
  7. Alcohol Altogether
  8. Oat Extract
  9. Chicken
  10. Chocolate: Chocolate contains chemicals that are said to effect neurotransmitters in the brain and a related substance to caffeine called theobromine. Chocolate contains more antioxidants than red wine.
  11. Damiana
  12. Ginkgo biloba
  13. Strawberries: Perfect for hand feeding your lover.
  14. Maca
  15. Zinc
  16. Ashwaganda
  17. Eurycoma longifolia
  18. Ginseng
  19. MDMA: Can be used to increase sexual pleasure and to reduce inhibition. It's illegal, so don't try this one at home ;o)
  20. Kava
  21. Panax
  22. Eringoes
  23. Potatoes
  24. Tomatoes
  25. Yohimbe
  26. Spanish fly (Cantharidin)
  27. Truffles: The scent is said to stimulate and sensitize the skin.
  28. Pine nuts: Pine nuts are rich in zinc. Zinc is a mineral necessary to maintain male potency.
  29. Bremelanotide: Increases desire in both men and women
  30. Ginger Root: Raw, cooked or crystallized is said to be a stimulant to the circulatory system.
  31. Honey
  32. Figs
  33. Garlic
  34. Pistachios
  35. Almond: The aroma is thought to induce passion in a female.
  36. Avocado: The Aztecs referred to the avocado tree as "Ahuacuatl" which in translation means "testicle tree".
  37. Asparagus: The Vegetarian Society suggests "eating asparagus for three days for the most powerful affect".
  38. Bananas: Bananas are rich in potassium and B vitamins, necessities for sex hormone production.
  39. Coriander (Cilantro seed)
  40. Aniseed: It's said sucking on the seeds will increase desire.
  41. Coffee: Caffeine is a stimulant. Keep in mind that too much caffeine has adverse effects and will become a depressant.
  42. Carrots: Said to stimulate the male
  43. Pineapple
  44. Liquorice (Licorice): Mainly a stimulant for women.
  45. Mustard: Believed to increase desire by stimulating the sexual glands.
  46. Vanilla: The scent and flavor is believed to increase lust.
  47. Raspberries: Perfect for hand feeding your lover.
  48. Nutmeg: Believed to increase desire for women.
  49. Sweet Basil: Stimulates the sex drive and boosts fertility.

Note: The disappointing news... according to FDA, the reported sexual effects of aphrodisiacs are based on folklore and are not fact.
