This Christmas especially, is going to require much thought to save money. With the economy so bad, we know we have to cut corners. However, we still want to enjoy the holidays. If you love to have Christmas parties, but want to save some money....party appetizers need a makeover. Here are some cost effective ideas to help make your holiday party more festive and save money.

Barbecue Meatballs: This is always a favorite at the Company Christmas Parties. Huge Meatballs cooked and then simmered in BBQ Sauce for an hour or so before you show up. Can be made ahead and refrigerated. Works great in a Crock Pot for parties.

2 pounds of hamburger
2 cups of bread crumbs
1 large onion-chopped finely
2 eggs
1/2 cup milk
1 tsp Salt
1/2 tsp Pepper
1 tsp Chili Powder
1 tsp Garlic Powder
1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce

Mix these ingredients together and let sit for about 15 minutes. Use an small ice cream scoop or large spoon to dip and shape these into about 2 inch around balls. Cook in oven in a baking dish or pan. Let these cook for about 30 minutes at 350 degrees.

While the meatballs are cooking, you can make the BBQ Sauce. My guys love these hot...so I add extra spices to the BBQ Sauce.

1 1/2 cups ketchup
1/2 cup mustard
1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
3/4 cup honey
1/4 hot sauce(Texas Pete)
1 tsp Chili Powder
1 tsp garlic Powder
1 tsp onion Powder
1/4 tsp Salt
1/4 tsp Pepper

Mix well. Let sit while meatballs are cooking. After meatballs are ready...drain on paper towels. Put all the meatballs in your Crock Pot and pour BBQ Sauce over them. Cook slowly for about an hour. You are done.
These are better made ahead and left in the frig over night. Just plug in the Crock Pot at your party and you are set. If you are going to a party where you will not have time to heat up your meatballs, do this at home before leaving. Your meatballs will be hot and ready when you get to your destination.

Guys love these things...I can't make enough each year...Have fun this Holiday Season.....
