Appetizers for Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving is just around the corner. It will be here before you know it. It is one of the busiest times of the year besides Christmas. Appetizers are like a sample before the actual feast. Thanksgiving is a time to be thankful for all the finer things in life. Are you seeking easy appetizers to serve to your guests for Thanksgiving? You have come to the right place. I have a small collection of recipes to share with your family and friends.
This first recipe will be sure to satisfy the sweet tooth in anybody.
Chocolate chip cheese ball
Ingredients-
1 (8 oz) pkg. cream cheese softened
½ stick margarine or butter softened
1/3 cup powder sugar
¼ tsp. vanilla
Pinch of salt
1/3 semi sweet mini chocolate chips
1/3 cup chopped pecans
The first step is to mix all ingredients together, except for the pecans. The ingredients mixed together into the shape of a ball. The ball needs to be chilled. The second step is to chop the pecans and the ball needs to roll into the pecan mixture. Teddy grahams are a nice treat to be served with the chocolate cheese ball.
If pecans are not your cup of tea, no worries peanuts are a great substitute.
Deviled eggs
Ingredients-
6 eggs hard boiled
¼ cup mustard
¼ cup sugar
2 t. vinegar
Pinch of paprika
The boiling of eggs usually takes up to twelve minutes. The shells need to be removed before proceeding. Each individual egg needs to be sliced in half. Yellow yolks need to be mixed together with the other ingredients. The mixture can now be spooned back into the eggs. Garnish them with paprika.
These two recipes are a tradition in my family. A garnishing tip for the cheese ball is to sprinkle powder sugar onto a serving tray before placing the chocolate cheese ball onto the tray. Deviled eggs are enjoyed by most. It is a classic tradition. These two recipes are not the only appetizers in this collection.
Hot corn dip
Ingredients-
1 (15 oz) can whole kernel corn drained
2 (4 oz) cans chopped green chilies drained
½ cup chopped red pepper
1 cup shredded Monterey jack cheese
2 t. chopped jalapeno pepper
1 cup mayonnaise
½ cup grated parmesan cheese
2 t. sliced ripe olives
Tortilla chips
In a bowl combine the corn, chilies, red pepper, Monterey jack cheese, and jalapeno peppers. Stir in mayo, and parmesan cheese. Transfer to an ungreased two-quart baking dish. Cover and bake at 350 degrees for thirty minutes or until heated through. Sprinkle with olives. Serve with tortilla chips. Do not use light or fat free mayo. Use rubber gloves when handling hot peppers. Do not touch face after handling the peppers.
Baked potato dip
Ingredients-
1 (16 oz) sour cream
½ cup mayo
4 oz cheddar cheese shredded
4 scallions finely chopped
6 slices of bacon cooked crispy and crumbled
Mix ingredients together in a medium bowl until blended. Cover and refrigerate at least for two hours or overnight for flavors to blend.
These appetizers should be a crowd pleaser just as they are with mine. These recipes are simple and easy to prepare. Don't be shy to add your own variations to these dishes. Happy Thanksgiving to you all.
