Easy Apple Butter
8 cups unsweetened applesauce, any brand
5 cups granulated sugar
1/2 cup vinegar
1 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon cloves
Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
Combine all ingredients thoroughly in large casserole dish.
Bake until thick, stirring several times while baking. It will take about an hour to an hour and a half, and it will thicken some as it cools, too. Remove from oven and let cool.
You can spoon it in to clean baby food jars for gifts. Be sure to tell your recipients to refrigerate the apple butter. It is delicious on biscuits, toast and pork.
