Apple IPhone 3G Launch

John Messina
Friday, July 11, 2008, will go down in history has one of Apple's biggest un-organized launch of their new iPhone 3G as hundreds of people camped out all week in front of Apple's New York City's store.

Anticipation for millions of customers quickly turned into frustration as they tried upgrading their software for their old iPhone or tried to activate their new iPhone 3G.

Apple stated that their servers were unable to accommodate the demand and sales people told their customers to go home and connect their new iPhone 3G to their computer and download the new software to activate it. This to me is poor customer service and Apple should give their customer's a partial rebate for all their troubles and frustrations.

Did Apple intend just to make the sales on the iPhone 3G and forget about customer service? Apple had to know that their servers would not be able to handle the demand and server time outs were to be expected.

Apple stated that the iPhone 3G is the latest technology and gives you faster internet connections and downloads. Well looks like Apple forgot to upgrade their infrastructure to support these iPhone 3G. Their servers must still be using old technology.

3G technology has been around since October 2003, when Verizon implemented it on their network. So it has taken Apple and AT&T 5 years to catch up to3G technology and then call it new!
