Apple ITablet a Certain Success or Unexpected Failure?

People Are Excited About the ITablet, but Will They Be Disappointed?

The Apple iTablet has been touted as one of the most anticipated inventions to come out of the Cupertino, California based company since the iPhone and the iPod Touch. However, the Apple iTablet...or iPad...or iSlate...or MacBook Tablet...may not end up being a huge success.

Then again, the iTablet could revolutionize computing as we know it. It all depends on the price, capabilities, and particulars surrounding this piece of electronics.

As an owner of an iPod Touch, I have to say that I love the touch screen capabilities of the Apple interface. It is the reason why I didn't choose another touch screen smart phone when I broke my Samsung slider phone. I'm spoiled by Apple's ultra-responsive and easy to use touch screen.

If there's going to be a tablet computer that I will use, it will be one produced by Apple. They've already proven to me that they can make something that I am not going to end up having to beat in order to get a response.

That being said, will the Apple iTablet be a certain success, or an unexpected failure? Tablet computers are far from being a "new" idea. In fact, Apple had a version of a tablet computer prototype back in the 1980's called "Bashful." Of course, the product never took off.

In addition, PC World reported that a Bloomberg analyst noted that even though tablet computers have been around since the 1990's, they still only account for 1% of the computer market.

Will the iTablet change all that, or will this just be another sexy gadget for the geeks? So much will depend on the capabilities of the machine. If you can do pretty much whatever you need on the iTablet, chances are they will give netbooks a run for their money.

On the other side, if the iTablet is nothing more than a bigger version of the iPod Touch, there's the possibility that the invention will flop. The touch screen iPod uses what's called an "accelerometer" for various games and functions. This means that the screen recognizes movement from side to side and up and down. Playing a game on a 10" screen will prove to be a little clunky.

If this thing is going to be a success, it's going to have to give a wealth of different options to fit many different demographics. Business software interfaces, eBook capabilities, HD Movie downloads, and lots of storage will certainly help in making this a success.

It's highly unlikely that anything Apple comes up with will be a failure in the short term. The true test of time will be if consumers desire the product and product upgrades for the next several years.

If everyone owned teeny-tiny TVs and all of a sudden someone starts selling 52 inch screen TVs, would anyone be so stupid as to say, "Hey, why would anyone want one of those, it's just a bigger version of what we already have, I mean, so what?"

But then stupid people were never rare, were they? LOL
