It's apple picking time at Oak Glen, located in Yucaipa, California. Now that fall is upon us, Oak Glen will be bustling with tourists as well as residents eager to do some fun apple picking and apple eating. Oak Glen is open year round but the best time to take the family is September, October and November. Listed here are five things you and your family can experience on this unique adventure.

Riley's Apple Farm

Open weekends from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m., you and your family can wander the apple orchards and pick your own fruit. Apple varieties include Early Fuji's, Red Delicious, Spartans, Jonathons, McIntosh, Braeburns, Romes, plus more. In October, you can even pick pumpkins and Indian corn. Kids will love the wagon rides and cider pressing.

Apple Annie's at Oak Tree Village

Start your apple pickin' day with a hearty, homestyle breakfast at Apple Annie's. From Memorial Day until December 30, Apple Annie's is open seven days a week from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. Off season hours vary. For more information, please call Apple Annie's at (909) 797-2311.

Oak Tree Village Activities

Your family will have a fun-filled day taking in all that Oak Tree Village has to offer. Kids will love panning for gold, pony rides, the animal park and the trout farm.

Shopping in Oak Glen

Of course there are plenty of shops with apple products and apple-themed gifts to entice the shopaholic in you. Quaint, hometown shops include: Riley's at Los Rios Rancho for tasty jams and jellies; Five Seasons Gifts features year-round Christmas items as well as apple gifts; and Apple Tree Gifts & Country Things which offers collectibles, children's books and toys, quilting supplies and much more. These are just a handful of interesting shops you'll want to peruse on your trip to Oak Glen.

Oak Glen School House Museum and Park

Take in the Oak Glen School House when visiting the area. You'll be sent back in time as you tour this amazing museum and view the many items on display. Hours during off season are Saturday, noon until 4 p.m., Sunday 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. The museum is closed during the month of December as well as rainy or snowy days. Call in advanced to verify hours.
