After mass was over, we decided to try out Apple Valley Restaurant in Milford because I have heard that they have great food at an affordable price. The main thing that sent me there though was the fact that it is advertised as a family restaurant and with four children, three of which are four years old and under, you kind of want to stay within the realm of a family type establishment. Anyone with small children understands that all too well!!
There weren't too many patrons in the room we were seated in. My son wanted to sing "You Are My Sunshine" again since he loved to sing and he knew that it made me smile. He wasn't loud at all. The table directly behind us was an older lady and her husband. I would guess that they were around fifty or sixty years old, or somewhere in between. They kept on giving us dirty looks and making remarks, that we could hear, about how annoying my children were. We ordered our food and just had small talk, quietly, and my son sang his song on and off quietly. This table behind us were clearly disgusted at us. Why? I do not know.
Our food took a while to get to us for some reason. That just upset these people even more. They were just about done with their meal when our food arrived. They made a few more nasty looks and remarks and finished up their food. When they were getting up to leave, as we were eating, the woman said loudly "let's get out of here". She then gave my husband another one of her famous dirty looks and my husband, not missing a beat says to her "I am sorry that we bothered you". He said it quite sarcastically. She responded to him "well they aren't my problem". (Meaning my children). So my husband says to her "well I am glad that you aren't my problem, have a nice day". The whole room kind of looked at us and smiled and laughed. I think that they didn't like them as well.
So what I am getting at is it really wasn't what I would have considered a family type restaurant. The food was average and a bit more expensive than I had expected. We had sandwiches and burgers and the bill was over $50. I will not be going back. The ambiance and the price as well as the food, did not impress me one bit. The only good thing was that the wait to be seated was literally five seconds. That right there should have told me something!!

Nice kids menu, crayons, food
the last time we went there, it was a major tourist thing. Had gone there in the mid 80's and it was a nice little place, but imho, by the early 90's, it became a tourist trap.
I actually work at Apple Valley. Mother's Day is one of our most hectic days of the year. The one thing about Milford is it's full of stuck up people. The majority of our customers are elderly snobs. We actually get people that request not to sit by children. I'm sorry you didn't enjoy yourself, and don't worry we all agree that the food is too expensive! Sometimes I would like to tell people how I really think about them, but unfortunately I'd be unemployed if that was the case!
