Applebee's New "Ultimate Trios"

Josh Cox
Today Applebee's announced a revision to their menu with a new entree "build your own sampler". The new menu item is called the "Ultimate Trio" The idea of having multiple items to choose from for a single price is not new, but the way Applebee's designed the new sampler makes it more unique than ever. Applebee's is not new to having sampler meals like this, but the "Ultimate Trio" seems much more filling than any previous sampler meal.

The Applebee's "Ultimate Trios" consist of 7 items, of which 3 are combined into a single meal. Of these 7 choices 5 are completely new items, which are available for the first time in Applebee's restaurants. The choices available are: classic Applebee's Boneless Wings, the new Mini Bacon Cheeseburgers (2), the new Steak Quesadilla Towers, the new Crispy Fiesta Wrappers, the new Dynamite Shrimp, the new Tuscan Cheese Spread, and the classic Mozzarella Sticks.

Some of the new items, such as the Mini Bacon Cheeseburgers, are simple to understand. Some of the other new items can be confusing without a waiter to describe what the item is. The Steak Quesadilla Towers are basically a tortilla shell with steak, onions, peppers, and sour cream all wrapped up inside and grilled to perfection. The Crispy Fiesta Wrappers are similar, but they are chicken rather than steak. Instead of having peppers and onions the Crispy Fiesta Wrappers have avocado-ranch sauce on them. The Crispy Fiesta Wrappers are "crispy" because they have tortilla chips in them and they are lightly fried. The Dynamite Shrimp are simply shrimp lightly coated in bread crumbs, and tossed in a special creamy, spicy sauce. The Tuscan Cheese Spread is a blend of cheeses, garlic, herbs and spices. The Tuscan Cheese Spread is also served with ciabatta bread to spread the cheese on.

Applebee's is also stepping up their advertising campaign for this special. Applebee's is running a combination of 15 and 30 second advertisements on network television beginning Monday and ending October 21st. Perhaps the top selling point of the "Ultimate Trios" is the price. No matter what combination of food you choose you are served a well portioned meal, and the price remains the same. No matter what three selections you choose, the price remains $10.99. The new special is available today, in most Applebee's locations. The special is clearly visible on the front page of the menu just so you wont miss it. The "Ultimate Trios" are available now until October 21st

Can someone tell me how to order at Applebee's? Like, I'm a first timer, and I'd like to know what I should do when I walk inside.
