Apple's iPod Touch Features New Innovations

The New iPod Touch Has Features Falling Off the Tree

Dave Bryan
A bit smaller and lighter than its predecessor, Apple's new iPod Touch and its features have definitely leaped over a few buildings and is poised to leap farther. Apple has nudged us ahead into the future a little more with this technological little wonder. We will examine what makes this device get such high praise.

The future of video calling is ready already. Using the front camera, Facetime, which I call the beginning of later, has positioned Apple to own the future of video calling. Facetime is a protocol that supports many open source standards. With the code being free to change, other companies can develop connections into the iPod Touch video conferencing feature.

The new iPod Touch comes with a second camera in back that is used for standard HD Video recording. You can make the movie, edit it and send it over the Internet all from the iPod. Of course you can take a regular photo if you like, it makes an excellent point and shoot camera. The Ritina display has 4 times the number of pixels of the previous iPod touch and with the high resolution you get motion that is continuous and smooth.

The lithium-ion battery can play 40 hours music and 7 hours video on a full charge Full charge occurs in four hours. With other features such as Blue tooth, Nike+, map location capabilities, 3 axis gyroscope, and Safari web browser, it is a much better value at $229 verses $149 for the new Multi-Touch iPod Nano. It now has the same operating system as the iPhone and is probably the best multi-function portable device on the market.

Gaming is better with the addition of an A4 processor and built-in social gaming networking by using the game center where you play against your friends. Sound familiar? I don't even what to think where they will eventually go with that.

Apple seems to be carrying on it's normal philosophy of doing things the Apple way. The Apple way has usually been against the normal computer grain but that is a part of their secret to success. They carry on the tradition with this new iPod Touch. Now that apple has managed to come up with a way to integrate a lot of related tech into one unit they are now presented with a problem. The problem is where do they go from here?
