Apple's IWork Keynote Presentations Are Better Than Microsoft's PowerPoints

Keynote Presentations Are Impressive

David Jiang
I've owned a Macbook Pro for over three years now and during that time I have become very familiar with Microsoft Office for Mac and Apple's productivity suite iWork. I have Microsoft Office on my PC and it seems like I have office and productivity suites everywhere. I have tried a number of different productivity suites, which is probably more than the average user that is typically only familiar with Microsoft products.

These productivity suites all have programs for making visual presentations. Microsoft Office for Windows and Mac both include PowerPoint. Interestingly enough, the Mac version of Microsoft Office's PowerPoint has better features than its Windows counterparts. The templates for Mac PowerPoint look much more professional and interesting than the boring templates on its Windows counterpart but Apple's proprietary presentation software called Keynote beats them both by a mile.

Keynote is a part of Apple's productivity suite known as iWork. I have iWork 09 on all my macs so keynote is something I can have access to pretty easily. I understand that the mac market share is low so many people will probably not have access to iWork, but I feel that keynote was so professional that people should know the benefits it offers. A single license of iWork costs $79 ($41 when you buy it with a mac) and a 5 user family pack costs $99 ($69 when you buy it with a mac) so it is obviously much cheaper than Microsoft Office but why do I think its better?

Keynote has smooth transitions and effects. You can easily create some very flashy effects in iWork's keynote. While keynote may be flashy, it is still very professional. I have used keynote to make a few presentations in the past, I use it whenever I there is an option to use it for presentations. The last keynote presentation that I made got a lot of interest from my audience, many of the people watching were not expecting to see some of the effects that were used and I even heard some wows in the audience.

If you want to make your presentation stand out I recommend using keynote. The program is easy to navigate and can definitely turn some heads. It will be impossible to make a presentation with this program if you do not have access to a mac. If you do have a mac, the program is really inexpensive compared to Microsoft counterparts but you will probably face problems making presentations with keynote. Since this program only works on a mac, you will only be able to make a presentation on a mac. So if you can hook your mac up to a projector, TV or some other screen then I highly recommend using keynote for all your presentations. It could really help your impression management.
