Everything from email to contacts to calendars re stored on a secure server that Apple aptly calls "cloud," which in turn pushes everything down to the various devices. When an update is made to a calendar or contact on one device, cloud automatically updates the others. The user is not required to do anything. At me.com, the host site for MobileMe, users get to MobileMe Mail, contacts, and calendar.
MobileMe Mail has many of the familiar features available on most web-based email applications such as flagging of emails, auto complete address, and folder filing. One enhancement not seen in most email applications is the Quick Response feature, which allows the user to reply to an email without even opening it. New emails are automatically updated to the other devices, and if a user owns an iPhone or Touch they are instantly notified of the new mail. The MobileMe Contacts application offers the ability to pull up a Google Map when you click on an address in a contact file.
MobileMe calendar allows the user to create multiple calendars and color code them, so a user can make separate calendar for their work and home life and easily see what appointment is for what aspect of their life. The calendar works very similar to those like Outlook where the user can change an appointment by simply clicking and dragging it to a new day and time. New appointments can be made by clicking on specific day and time and dragging a selection area to a given time. And with all these web-based applications they are all pushed to your other devices automatically when any change is made.
MobileMe works with Outlook, Outlook Express, and Windows Contact; emails, contacts, and calendars from these are automatically pushed to the other linked Apple based devices or even another PC. According to Apple, this is all done seamlessly. Me.com also features the MobileMe Gallery, where users can upload and share photos. Photos are able to be uploaded from both a Mac or Pc and allows users to create several albums of photos and allow viewers to download high resolution copies of the photos.
MobileMe Gallery is designed to work with the Iphone and Apply TV so the image appears just as the user intended. MobileMe iDisk allows people to store files, access them and share them all online, files are allowed to be stored, uploaded and downloaded. iDisk uses drag and drop features and works with any web browser via me.com on both Mac and PC.
In a world where people are multi-tasking at an alarming rate and use multiple devices on a constant daily basis, Apple is clearly trying to make it easier for people to get things done seamlessly.
