Apples and Oranges

Everyone has heard the idiom "That is like adding apples and oranges". It can't be done. Although, they can be compared; I have set out to discover which one is better. Apples or oranges? The fruit will be judged on several qualities. The fruit that wins the most rounds is the winner.

Round one: Taste oranges and apples both taste good. After asking people that I know which is better, the general consensus agrees that oranges taste slightly better.

Round two: Edibility Everyone agrees that oranges are much more difficult to eat compared to the apple. An apple comes ready, oranges have to be peeled, and that is never fun. Apples are the fruit of choice when there is no time to be wasted.

orange marmalade. Since sorbet is artificial flavoring, and nobody really eats marmalade any more. Apples win.

Round three: Drinkability Apple juice or orange juice, it's a close call. However, apple juice also comes with apple cider, a holiday favorite. Then again orange juice is a commonly used in alcoholic drinks, a favorite for any occasion. This is a solid tie.

Round four: Smell apples do have the aroma of fresh apple pie. It is commonly simulated in candles and air fresheners. Although, oranges are used in household cleaners, and every one should agree that the smell of citrus is better than that of bleach. Oranges take this round.

Round five: Variety apples have a much larger variety of options compared to the orange, from Granny Smith to Golden Delicious. Oranges have...tangerines.

Round six: Cost According to Albertsons, oranges are slightly cheaper than apples, who knew?

As always there can be several more rounds, but it is evident that apples and oranges simply add up to fruit. However, my vote will rest with the apples. What about yours?
