Appleton Farms Fully Cooked Bacon - Food Review

Great for Holiday Brunch!

Lisa Riggs
Bacon is not a food that I often make or serve to my family. When I do offer this meat as a breakfast side, or on a sandwich, I thoroughly enjoy it. I really do love the taste of bacon, however I am aware that this is not the healthiest food option to eat myself, or serve my loved ones. What I don't like about bacon is the mess that comes with cooking it. I invariably cover my stove top with grease, and washing the pan that it was cooked in is no joy either. I do enjoy the brands of fully cooked bacon that cut way down on the mess and preparation time. One of my favorite brands is Appleton Farms Fully Cooked Bacon.

This produce is packaged in a two point one ounce resealable package inside a cardboard box. I pay only $1.99 for this easy to make bacon. Taking into consideration that each package contains fifteen slices, and the prep and clean up is a snap, I consider this low price to be an excellent deal.

This bacon product can be heated in either the microwave or in a skillet on the stove. I prefer the microwave method as it takes just over a minute to crisp up all fifteen slices. After placing the entire package contents on a microwave safe plate and covering with a paper towel, I cook the bacon for approximately sixty to sixty five seconds. The instructions on the back of the package state that it takes only forty five seconds to heat up the entire package. I have found that when cooking all fifteen slices of bacon, a few extra seconds of cooking time ensures that all the slices are evenly cooked and nicely crispy.

A three slice serving of this fully cooked bacon contains eighty calories. There is six grams of Fat and two point five grams of Saturated Fat. This food contains no Trans Fat, but does have twenty milligrams of Cholesterol. Each serving also contains two hundred and ten milligrams of Sodium and one gram of Total Carbohydrate. There is also one gram of Sugar, five grams of Protein and two percent of the daily recommended intake of Iron. This bacon does not offer any Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Calcium or Dietary Fiber.

Appleton Farms Fully Cooked Bacon is definitely delicious. Each slice has a tasty mixture of smokiness and sweetness that more than satisfies. This side makes a wonderful addition to a plate of eggs in any style, and goes well in a variety of sandwiches or salads that call for a bit of crumbled bacon. Dips and appetizers can also be enhanced by the flavor of this bacon. When time is a factor, but you don't want to sacrifice the flavor of your dish, this bacon is definitely a tasty time saver. I plan on keeping this item on hand for my Christmas brunch, so that I can offer my family a satisfying and tasty mid morning meal with taking too much time away from them. I give this fully cooked bacon product a full five out of five stars rating.
