Applewood Plumbing and Heating Service Review in Denver, Colorado
Great Customer Service Does Not Equal Honesty

To go back 5 years when we bought our house, we had our hot water heater go out right after we bought the house. Luckily we had a home warranty and had the hot water tank replaced for free and they also put a water pressure reducer on because they said our house had a water pressure that was extremely high. We got everything taken care of and have been pleased with no problems ever since. Applwood recently came out to the house to perform the 1 year check up (which we thought was extremely nice of them). The proceeded to tell us that the furnace was fine but the water pressure in our house was extremely high and could cause major problems in the future. They said they could fix it for a minor $700, like most in this economy when we got that news we were extremely desperate to find less expensive solution.
We got ahold of the company that fixed everything the first time to come out and check on our water pressure reducer (they came for free). They asked us who gave us the news and we told them it was Applewood and they gave a little "oh, those guys" groan. They checked out the hardware and told us that everything was absolutely fine and we didn't have to worry about anything. They also proceeded to tell us that Applewood is known for their outrageous prices and how they prey on people who are in need of emergency services. We told them how much we had payed for our furnace and the guy almost fell down in response to the crazy price we told him. He said he has only see a furnace price that high in houses that nearly tripled the size of ours. We basically got screwed.
Like I said at the beginning, Applewood has always been very nice very efficient and always willing to help in a pinch, I guess we found out why. I know I don't have the proof to really nail these guys and that's not what I'm trying to do anyway, I'm simply trying to warn people in similar situations not to go with the first company that arrives at your door. I will never use Applweood Plumbing and Heating again and I suggest you don't either. I know there is something to be said for customer service and I am the first one to be willing to pay for good customer service but when they take advantage of us that's when it ends. For them to try and sell us something we don't need really crosses the line for me. Make your own decision but be cautious about Applewood Plumbing and Heating.

Post a CommentChad, this is the EXACT thing that happened to us on Tuesday, Oct 4, 2011. We should have known better since Applewood charged us $7000 to replace our furnace. "Fool me once...shame on you...fool me twice...shame on me!" Rules to live by from now on. Never Again!!!!!
