Consumers replacing old appliances with new Energy Star appliances will be eligible for rebates from $75 to $300. The rebates can be used for heat pumps, dishwashers, air conditioners, freezers and more.
North Carolina has $650,000 in rebate funds available. Initially North Carolina had 8.8 million dollars to use for the appliance rebate program as the state's share of the Recovery Act funds.
Consumers with questions may call 877-379-7323 for more details. Most stores selling appliances know the details as well.
Some have been critical of the appliance rebate program, stating the money could be better spent elsewhere. However, businesses and consumers that have benefited from this program feel it is a responsible way to help stimulate the economy. More information is available on the website listed below.
To be eligible for the rebate, consumers must be replacing appliances that use too much energy. Appliances must be Energy Star approved to receive a rebate. Earlier in the appliance rebate program more than 64 million dollars was spent by consumers happy to receive the rebates offered.
Consumers thinking about replacing appliances with the help of the rebates should consider the cost of the appliance they will purchase and how this will help the family budget in the future. In some cases replacing older appliances with expensive new appliances does not give enough saving to make a purchase the right choice.
