Applying the Law of Attraction to Your Life

Linda Hatton
The world is full of mixed messages. On one hand, we are told to be careful about what we imagine or we might make it happen. On the other hand, we are told that we can't control our world. Magic does indeed exist, however, and it is sometimes referred to as Deliberate Creation, based on the concept known as Law of Attraction.

Deliberate Creation is the process of creating your life by consciously changing thought patterns. This can be done using meditation, affirmations, and visualizations. Everything in our world, including thoughts, is made up of energy. These energy waves are attracted to other energy waves that match it. This is a simplistic definition of Law of Attraction, one of the basic laws of nature, as discovered by Sir Isaac Newton.

Imagine that you would like to have a new house. Your old one is too small, it's in a neighborhood that doesn't fit your needs, or perhaps it is run-down. Instead of dwelling on your old house and what you don't like about it, begin to appreciate it.

Start with a list of ten items about your house that you appreciate, no matter how big or small that item is. Every day, add to your list and when you find yourself dwelling on the negative aspects, consciously change your thoughts to focus on only the positive ones. You may even take out your list and read it when you fall back into old patterns.

At the same time, begin to imagine the kind of house you would like to have. Make a collage out of magazine photos, drive around to find the neighborhood you would like to live in, and see in your mind the neighbors you would like.

Visualize yourself living in your new house, interacting with your new neighbors, and being happy there the more detailed the better. Include in your visualizations whatever details are important to you, placing your state of bliss as the most important factor.

The best time to practice visualization is before sleep when your mind is relaxed and open to new thought patterns which you may otherwise resist. At this time, if you do find yourself resisting the visualizations, you may simply affirm repeatedly something like, "I am surrounded by caring, loving neighbors. I am happy in my home."

Keep in mind that you will be delivered exactly what you ask for, so specificity is a key ingredient in manifesting your desires. If your requests are not specific, you may get what you desired, but not in the way you bargained for. Being specific means to focus on what you do want, not on what you don't want. Remember that old saying, "Be careful what you wish for"? This is a key aspect of Deliberate Creation.

If you continue to place your focus on only your undesirable house, that is where your energy lies and therefore where you will stay. Your outside world is a reflection of what's going on in your mind.

Changing a mindset after so many years can be tricky. If you are not convinced that Law of Attraction is real, try an experiment. Try manifesting something you hold no emotional attachment to, but something you don't routinely see. For example, try to manifest neckties with an obscure print such as martini glasses.

Before long, you will notice a connection between your thoughts and what is actually appearing in your life. Most importantly when deliberately creating your life, keep in mind that rather than looking for material things to bring happiness, first find happiness within yourself and the world around you, and the rest will fall into place.

I recently listened to The Law of Attraction and firmly believe we can become who we want to be and obtain the things we want in life by focusing on the positive Your article was another reminder of this belief.

    Hi Linda,
Great article--good job!!::virtual pat on back::
I really needed a reminder to stay focused on the positive and visualize what I do want. We sometimes tend to dwell on the current situation, rather than creating the future we want. Thanks!!

I believe firmly in positive vibes and thinking...and how it can control your life. If more people could funtion out of an affirmative frame of mind, the world would change. Thanks, Linda
