Approximately 500 Angels on One Christmas Tree!

Jackie Barlow
For many years I was a member of the Angels Collectors Club of America.

An e-pal (Elinor) from the other end of the USA from Florida, when she found out that I love angels, told me to contact an angel lover who lived less than an hour's drive away from me (Daphne).

It was Christmastime, and Daphne very graciously invited me over to her mobile home where every nook and cranny was filled with the most beautiful angels!

She not only had wall shelves in every room showing off her collections, but she even had a built-in lighted area in the corner of her dining room where she showed off one of her expensive angels!

She had them from tiny to lifesize including a girl with a fur bonnet and gown!

The crowning point of interest, though, was her Christmas tree just loaded down with angels both old and new - from antiques to homemade - from paper to fabric - in all sizes and shapes. I looked for close to an hour and couldn't get the full view of them all!

Daphne said that she lovingly counted the angels as she unwrapped them each year and put them on the tree - then she would have a contest with any of her visitors and ask them to give the exact number that they thought were on the tree, and the winner won an angel as a prize!

Because of that experience, I joined ACCA, and later found that other members of the group (like Kay and Shirley, etc.) also decorated their Christmas trees with angels.

I have made it an annual event to take a new angel ornament to my daughter's every Christmas for her to add to their tree in among their regular ornaments.

At the ACCA convention in Kansas City in September 1997, I not only was able to totally enjoy my first convention ever, but I also was able to spend time with my family where my grand-daughter Elise was all of four days old!

So the angel experience has been a dearly loved part of my life, and I adore having angels on everything: knick-knacks, candle holders, pillows, stationery, cups, sweat shirts, bells, napkin holders, night lights, napkins, towels, etc. etc.!

Do you have an angel story to share with me? If so, please contact me.

I don't collect angels but do have some that we've acquired through the years. This was so enjoyable to read!

My mother has collected angels for years and then my sister started collecting them too. I made Christmas Angels one year from supplies I bought at JoAnne's Fabrics and everyone loved them. Thank you for this fun and interesting article.
