Me, I love any kind of nuts in most anything. To start off my day I love a pecan nut roll. And make it a huge one, please. I love the sticky gooey nutty mixture. Yes, you will probably feel like your belly is ready to explode - but, oh my, it was delicious.
A great mid-morning snack on this April 14, national pecan day, would be some special cookies made with those beloved pecans. I love brown sugar or caramel bar cookies like Mom used to bake.
For lunch, make mine chicken salad with pecans. Just a little dab of lettuce, please, and a big scoop of that delicious nutty chicken salad. Add a few grapes to make it just extra tasty.
After work I may have to stop by the ice cream store for some praline pecan ice cream. A cone please and, ah, make it a double dipper. I'll need a couple extra napkins, I'm sure.
By now, my non-nutty friends will be shaking their heads in sort of a daze. How can anyone stand that crunch crunchy feeling in your teeth and besides, the nuts get stuck. No, really they don't, just take your tongue and rub it over the nut. It'll come loose and it's good to the last crunch.
Probably we've had enough sweet stuff today to make our dentists cringe in alarm. We'll skip the sweet stuff and just crush that bag of pecans. Then we'll roll our fish or chicken in the nuts and bake until brown and crispy.
And I'll add a few nuts to my special tossed salad tonight. I love almonds in my green beans - but pecans?
Ah ha, I remember that piece of chocolate cake with chocolate frosting. It's way back here in the freezer. Yes, it's covered with those beloved pecan pieces. Oh, and I also found the bag of chocolate covered pecans I bought from the Valpo Guild and hid in the freezer so no one else would find them.
I know I'll sleep well tonight. If you are one of my nutty friends, by now you're probably back from the store with a big bag of nuts - most especially pecans. What is your favorite nutty treat? Enjoy as many as you wish on April 14 - or any day.
