The Madison Hotel is home to the "Cocktails for a Cure" on April 4th.Four Rhodes College students bring everyone together to enjoy cocktails and hors devours to support the fight against Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. There will also be a silent auction for numerous items and the cast of "Darius Goes West" will be present for a meet and greet. The tickets are $50 per person. The event starts at 7pm and goes through 10pm.

The Orpheum is happy to announce "The Color Purple" is coming April 1st through April 5th. This is a musical take on the 1983 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction winning novel by Alice Walker. The story is set in Georgia and it shows the life of an African-American female, Celie, in the 1930s. It shows how even against all odds, she found inner beauty and happiness in life.
Calling all Shopaholics! The Spring Market is at the Agricenter on April 3rd through April 5th. There will be well over 100 vendors offering products like home décor, health & beauty, fashion, gourmet foods, and more. There will also be a silent auction going where you can place bids on items and the net proceeds will go to some local charities. Check out Girl's Night Out at Friday night from 5pm-9pm (Admission is only $5). Admission for other times is $8 for a one day pass and $12 for the 3 day pass.
The Memphis Motorsports Park is having test and Tune Grudge Racing and Fun Runs on April 2nd.
Memphis Zoo is having the Wild World of Wine and Beer on April 3rd. They will have 45 of the finest wines and 5 specialty beers. This is a fun event that also includes a silent auction. Admission is $40 for members and $50 for nonmembers.
The Performing Arts Department of the University Of Memphis is proud to share Sound Fuzion in the Harris Building. The show starts at 7:30pm and general admission applies.

You can bring your own brown bag lunch or you can get lunch at the Folklore Store ( for a price). On Thursday, April 2 Diana Stein and Gary Kabakoff will be performing and on Friday, April 3 Tempeh Four will be performing. This event is located in the store area.
Come Shake it at the Center for Southern Folklore while Big Sam's Funky Nation plays that New Orleans sound for all to hear. This is going down on April 3rd at 8pm in the Center for Southern Folklore Hall. Big Sam Williams has a big musical past that includes playing trombone for the Dirty Dozen Brass Band and toured with Elvis Costello. Admission is $15 in advance and $18 on the day of the show. You can also choose the $25 meet and greet Sam at the store before the show package which includes wine or beer.
Come and hear the soulful and funky sounds of Hope Clayburn and Soul Scrimmage at the Center for Southern Folklore in the store area on April 4th at 9pm to 12am. Hope has performed with artist such as The Allman Brothers and North Mississippi Allstars. She is returning to Memphis after a long tour of Europe with the Nashville Soul Band. Admission is $5.
Dixon Gallery is having their annual wildflower plant sale on April 3rd and 4th at 8am till 4pm. You will find everything from ground coverings to trees at this sale. If you are an avid gardener you will appreciate all they have to offer. It is definitely a beautiful sight.

American Idol's Latest Winner David Cook will be taking the stage at Minglewood Hall. He is bringing Ryan Star, a past contestant on American Idol, with him. Tickets are $25 and the doors are opening at 6:30pm. Show is slated to begin at 7:30pm.

Restless Heart will be headlining the Memphis & Shelby County Firefighters Benefit Concert at the AgriCenter on April 17th. Admission is $25 and it starts at 8pm.
Circle Cross Rodeo take over the AgriCenter on April 18th starting at 5pm and admission is free. Come see some bull riders and barrel racing.

The Performing Arts Department of the University Of Memphis is proud to share Handel's Partenope performed by U of M Opera on April 17th at 7:30pm & April 19th at 3pm in the Harris Building. This is a raging performance bringing Handel's 1730 comedy to life in modern times. General admission applies.

Concerts International presents Cerovsek/ Jumpannen Violin and Piano Duo on April 21st at 7:30pm in the Harris Building on the U of M Campus. Come hear them play from their recent release of Beethoven's Sonotas for violin and piano. Students can get free tickets at the Panhellenic Building.

Earth, Wind, & Fire takes the stage at Harrah's on April 23rd at 8pm. The tickets range from $55 to $65. The concert will be at the Harrah's Events Center.
