April Fool Video Pokes Fun at Glenn Beck Feud

The war of words between Fox News celebrity pundit Glenn Beck and Jim Wallis, the head of Sojourners, a Christian organization that promotes social justice, took a funny turn on April 1.

Beck riled up Wallis and other Christian leaders in mid-March by comparing social justice with Communism and Nazism. Wallis fired back by calling on Christians to boycott Beck's show, comparing Beck's antics with the high jinks of shock radio personality Howard Stern.

Beck took personal offense and even threatened Wallis, saying "...the hammer is coming, because little do you know, for eight weeks, we've been compiling information on you, your cute little organization, and all the other cute little people that are with you. And when the hammer comes, it's going to be hammering hard and all through the night, over and over..."

Wallis has called on Beck to meet him, "...proposing that the two of us sit down together and have an open and public discussion on what social justice really means and how Christians are called to engage in the struggle for justice."

To this date, Beck has not accepted Wallis' invitation. Wallis decided to use the occasion of April Fools' Day to make light of the situation. On the Sojourners blog, God's Politics, a blogger by the improbable name April Fuhl announced that a secret meeting had taken place between Beck and Wallis to air their differences. 'She' even claimed Beck and Wallis donned disguises before meeting in the undisclosed location. Below is the video footage of this historic meeting.

To Sojourners credit, they avoided the pitfall of casting Beck as Darth Vader. The obvious joke is explained at the end of the blog, with the following disclaimer, "All quotes were scrupulously pulled from relevant in-context references (except for Jim's last one!) and no phrases were artificially reconstructed to make someone say anything they didn't originally mean."

Whether or not Beck enjoyed the joke remains to be seen.
