April Fools Day 2009 Pranks to Pull at the Office

Everybody loves a good April Fools prank. Not a prank that will scare a person half to death, or cause injury or embarrassment, but a good side splitting joke that causes laughter is always good for the soul. There are lots of good April Fools pranks that can be pulled at the office that can cause laughter and help to create a light-hearted work atmosphere. And the good thing is, with these office pranks for April Fools you won't get fired.

April Fools Office Prank #1

One April Fools prank that always seems to be pulled by someone in the office is switching the sugar in the break room for salt. There really is nothing funnier than watching a person's face after tasting what they thought would be a nice swallow of sweetened coffee. Sour lemons couldn't bring a funnier look to their face. It really is quite funny. I have fallen prey to this prank before, and outside of having to spit real quick, there is no injury or embarrassment.

April Fools Office Prank #2

Can you imagine how funny it is to watch a co-worker sit at his/her desk expecting to pull their chair up to their desk to resume their day's work, and the chair won't roll? One year on April Fools Day a co-worker had put pieces of tooth picks under the wheels of everybody's desk chairs. When we sat in our chairs to pull them forward, they wouldn't roll. About half of us almost slid out of our chairs. When we were all perplexed, wondering why our chairs all of a sudden wouldn't roll properly, he started laughing and told us all, April Fools! It was a quick and easy fix.

April Fools Office Prank #3

Take just one or two objects on a co-worker's desk, and place that object in a different location on the desk. I works quite well if there is enough room on the desk to mirror positions. Office personnel usually have a strong sense of their desk-top needing to be a certain way, and when things are slightly off, they won't be able to recognize why and it will drive them nuts.

The way it was done to me was, I had a picture of my husband and boys that I kept on the left hand corner of my desk. Because of the way I sat at my desk, and the way I worked, that picture was always in my field of vision. For April Fools one year a co-worker had placed that picture on the right hand corner of my desk. All morning long I knew something was wrong but I couldn't place what. It was after lunch that I realized that my picture wasn't right. When I went to move it, on a piece of paper underneath the picture was written, "April Fools!"

April Fools Office Prank #4

One year for April Fools a co-worker wrote "April Fools" on pieces of paper and placed one on each person's desk; including her own. All day long we kept waiting for something to happen or jump out at us. Nothing ever did happen, and that was actually the prank.

April Fools Office Prank #5

One year for April Fools our boss took some rice that he had previously burnt in a skillet, and before we all got to work on April Fools morning, he had sprinkled the rice around the break-room, on the counters and in the cupboard where our coffee cups were. It looked like mouse droppings. Not only did everyone use disposable cups all day, we were constantly on the look out for mice. At the end of the work day he gave us each an April Fools card, and in each card was written "Would someone please clean up the burnt rice?"

It is a lot of fun to pull April Fools Office Pranks, and can be done in such a way that everyone can have a nice and lighthearted work day; and you won't get fired.
