April Fool's Day Celebration and History

April Fool's Day is a day to play practical jokes, and pranks on family, friends, neighbors, coworkers. Or to send these unsuspecting mates on a "Fools Errand." Anyone you come across on April Fool's Day is prime target for this silliness. And April Fool's Day is Happily celebrated around the world. There are many theories as to how this wacky celebration started. One historian's theory is that certain ancient cultures celebrated the New Year on April 1. And Pope Gregory XIII ordered that a new Gregorian calendar be created to replace the previous Julian Calendar. This new calendar called for New Years to be celebrated on January 1. Many people refused to celebrate the new date and continued celebrating New Year Day on April 1. Those who celebrated the New Year on January 1 made fun of those still celebrating on April 1. And they played tricks and pranks on them to get a laugh. The tradition spread world wide. Here are a few modern ways to celebrate April Fool's Day.

April Fool Celebration

April Fool - In France April 1 is called Poisson D"Avril or April Fish. French children tape a fish picture to the back of a school mates clothing and yell Poisson D'Avril when the prank is discovered. Alright, Here is the American version that is best performed on good friends with a wacky sense of humor who wouldn't mind a little fun on April fools day. Take a piece of paper and write April Fool in large letters for all to see. And secretly stick it to the back of the friends pants. They are sure to get a few odd looks and stares until they discover the paper. Shout April Fool when the prank is discovered. And of course they realize they've been pranked and it is April Fool's Day.

Stories - Tell a ridiculous story on April Fool's Day. Tell an outlandish and totally absurd story to friends, office mates, school mates. Anything that seems purely wacky. Take a page from Chicken Little and shout the sky is falling or Alien's have landed. Or that you've been accepted for an astronaut program, and are leaving for Mars, Or that you are auditioning for the "American Idol" show. Or something like the Boss gave us the rest of the day off. Or tell a sports enthusiast his favorite team player was traded to opposing team. And when your audience starts to buy the story or gets a puzzled look on their face. Shout April Fool.

Silly Prank.- The prank should be harmless but absolutely silly and ridiculous. For example, shaking hands with a mate and having a hand buzzer attached. Sticking a piece of toilet tissue (clean) on a chums pants.
