The love I feel for you
The longings of my heart
Only known by few.
The cobblestone remains
At the entrance of the town
Bring to mind the speeding chariots
Causing rowdiness all around.
As I then turn my attention
To the Forum on the left
I remember my old house
And the memories I there left.
Then I sweetly turn my thoughts
To the long walks that I took
Along the Via Sacra
Next to what is now a brook.
The port ruins on the left remind me
Of how busy life once was
For the merchants and the soldiers
And give me cause to pause.
You were once a great big city
Now a small forgotten town
But in the memories I have and cherish
You will never let me down.
