If you have never tried turkey or chicken hamburgers, give them a try. They are tasty and a good alternative to beef. You can purchase them already shaped in patties or you can buy the ground turkey or chicken meat and shape them yourself.
If preparing your own hamburger patties, try adding some minced onion to your hamburger meat before you shape them. The hamburgers will have a built in onion taste.
Once again, if preparing your own hamburgers, instead of shaping your hamburger in the usual patty shape, try making them the shape of a hot dog. Serve them on hot dog buns for a very different meal idea.
Instead of using a hamburger roll, try placing your hamburger on a whole-wheat English muffin. A round Italian roll is another alternative for the hamburger roll.
For an Italian style hamburger try melting a slice of mozzarella or provolone cheese on top of your hamburger. After the cheese melts place some warm tomato sauce over your hamburger.
For a Mexican style hamburger try melting a slice of jalapeño or pepper jack cheese on top of your hamburger. After the cheese melts place some salsa over your hamburger.
Instead of adding slices of plain yellow onion on top of your hamburger try adding slices of Bermuda onion, white onion, Spanish onion or red onion.
Coleslaw on top of your hamburger makes an appetizing choice. We usually think of coleslaw as a side dish, but this is a choice worth trying.
Make a Salisbury style hamburger by topping it with warm brown or mushroom gravy. Just a thought, mashed potatoes would make a good vegetable choice for serving with the Salisbury style hamburger.
Mustard tastes good on top of a hamburger instead of the standard ketchup. There are many different mustard varieties on the market today. It might be nice to try a different type of mustard instead of the usual spicy brown or golden brown mustard.
Try melting Swiss cheese or cheddar cheese instead of the usual American cheese on top of your hamburger.
Top your hamburger with slices of tomato and lettuce. This idea gives you a way to incorporate more fresh vegetables into your diet.
Sauté some onions and place over your hamburger. Use the variety of onion you like the best.
Try thinly sliced cucumber slices in place of sliced pickles on your next hamburger.
Hopefully, by using these ideas you can turn an ordinary hamburger into a special meal treat.
