Are Celebrities Getting Away with Murder?

Lana
More and more you see celebrities in the news defending themselves from alcohol and drug escapades to even murder. And oddly enough they seem to be getting away with it all. If it was you or someone that you knew that committed an act of crime it would definitely not be overlooked or unwritten. As "normal" people of society we pay for at mistakes and to the full extent of the law.Vicariously, celebrities seem to fall exempt or does money really talk?

These are the faces that we see on the big screen and that fill concert arenas worldwide, faces that are suppose to set an example.Granted being a celebrity has it's downfalls but, when pushed to far what exactly happens to them? They snap and they lose all control and after their moments of insanity they want everything to be alright and will pay, literally, the price to achieve that.

Gang violence is todays society is similar to the era of "mobsters".A prime example of this is the West Coast versus East Coast.Rap took over by storm in the 90's along with the evident feud between West Coast versus East Coast or if you will Death Row Record Label versus Bad Boy Record Label resulting in the death of two rap legends,Tupac Shukar and the Notorious B.I.G.Allegations spread like wildfire of who actually put out the hits and who actually pulled the triggers to end these lives and still to this day no one has been charged with the death of either.Money and power has hidden the evidence and murderers in these cases, two deaths will remain instilled in the minds of our society that were wasted over rivalry.

What do you think of when you hear the name O.J.Simpson?Retired professional football player or murderer? In 1995 O.J. went on trial for the murder of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ron Goldman.O.J. hired lawyer Johnnie Cochran who charged over $20 million dollars to defend O.J. at his trial and brought in over 150 witnesses to protest O.J.'s innocence,a parading of friends, family and former teammates.Anyone of the 95 million viewers that tuned in to watch the trial knew in fact that O.J. had committed these heinous acts but, with money being no issue ( at the time) O.J. got away with murder.

In the case of Robert Blake who could have been known for a actor that appeared in over 80 filmographies,a writer and producer but taking the life of his wife Bonny Lee Bakley in May of 2001 he is has taken on a new identity of assumed murderer .According to onlookers that evening of Bonny's death Robert had indeed been acting strangely mumbling to himself, acting agitated and tugging at his hair assuming to be the signs of a mental breakdown or perhaps a well planned murder. He did in fact carry a gun with them that night explaining it was for her protection which somehow turned out to be her death. The trial dragged on for months and Robert was not convicted of the murder but he was found liable for her death,of course this doesn't make a whole lot of sense it only frees him from serving any kind of prison time.Again a case of money for innocence.

Not all celebrity crimes end in murders, several are misdemeanors.Such as the case of Limp Bizkit front man Fred Durst,in October 2007 Fred seemed to let his temper get the best of him and tried to run down two people with his vehicle, this only seemed to get him a 120 day suspended jail sentence,20 hours of community service and a $1,500 fine. And another pop star that has slid by several times on DUI charges is Lindsay Lohan, officially last spring Lindsay was charged with 7 misdemeanors but no felony charges which means the maximum she can face is only 4 days in jail. But Lindsay is not alone,Nicole Richie by 2003 had 2 DUI convictions already under her belt she could be fined $390 -$1,000 in fines and serve up to 90 days in jail and have her driver's license suspended.Celebrities have the money to buy their way out of sticky situations and do so without any qualms.

Is this kind of behaviour fair or just to the rest of society?no it isn't,just because someone is famous or rich does not make them exempt to the law.The so called "normal" people of society would face charges,be forced to pay fines and serve jail time or prison time for committing the same kind of acts that celebrities are getting by with and basically only getting a slap on the wrist. How can we respect and look up to those that we put in high regards such as our favorite actors, musicians and those in politics if they are setting such bad examples?Eventually being only human soon the urge to forgive and forget will no longer apply.

O.J. Simpson got away with murder. Few others to, I'm writing a book about how the justice system in the US is corrupt to everyone because celebrities are getting away with this sh*t.

the problem is that our society does "respect and look up our favorite actors, musicians and those in politics" and we SHOULDN'T. Love the art not the artist, there is a HUGE difference but people just can't seem to get it through their ignorant star-struck heads, especially in LA! And where are all the celebrity crimes commited???? And who is on the jury....LA! A bunch of blithering, slobbering, drooling, wanna-bes that will DO ANYTHING to align themselves with a star, including giving them a verdict of innocent.
