Are Cellphones Dangerous?

Anonymous
Are cell phones bad for you health? Yes, they are, and they can actually lead to your demise if you spend hours and hours trying to call the number of that someone who used to be your boyfriend (who incidentally had the temerity to break up with you over the phone). Hey ladies, don't get your heart broken that way.

But really now, there are studies that indicate that using your cell phones heavily can, indeed, affect your health.

Although they have changed the way humans live and communicate (you're the odd one out if you don't have a cell phone), cell phones contain toxic substances such as antimony, arsenic, beryllium, cadmium, lead, and mercury. Apart from polluting the environment, these substances threaten human health by allegedly causing brain tumors, migraines and sleep disorders. The men have it worse, cell phones are said to lower sperm count.

Cell phones also increase the chances of you blowing up when you use it in the vicinity of gasoline stations. (In the movies, terrorists blow up their targets with only a cell phone call).

So, should you give up cell phones altogether? Not really. Take note that such so-called cell phone health risks, just like smoking-related cancer, is commensurate with how often you use your cell phone. So, the less that you use it, the lesser your risk.

As it is, cell phones have become a way of life for people in practically all parts of the world. More than a communication device, they are also great fashion accessories. Your cell phone is also an extension of who you are. You can tell a lot about a person by his choice of cell phone (from the simple to the high-end stylish model) and what he puts in it (from ring tones, pictures, wall papers, etc.).

You can do a lot more to fit your cell phone to your personality. Downloading a ring tone of your choice, and using it, is just one of them. More than telling on your personality, a unique ring tone also makes it easier to know if someone's calling you when you're at a public place.

Choosing a cell phone is really not that easy. Although cell phone models come and go, at any one time, there are over 200 cell phone models in Canada and the United States. These days, what most people are looking for is a phone that can be synchronized with your computer. Having this feature makes it easy for cell phone users to easily update their phone books, to-do lists and transfer pictures, video and music files.

In choosing a cell phone, the only thing that you should consider is your preferences. If you prefer less fluff, then go for the nonsense models that don't go beyond what any normal cell phone should do - call and send a text message. Before committing to a service contract with a cell phone service company, always compare plans. You don't want to get stuck with cell phone bills you don't like paying for.
