Are Chupacabras Invading Texas?

Amanda Abella
Texans are stirring as news reports of supposed Chupacabra killings are making their way through the media. The Chupacabra - which literally translates to "goat sucker" - is sometimes referred to as the "Bigfoot of the Latin Culture" and has a very dangerous reputation. Said to be a cross between a dog and a wolf, Chupacabra hunts livestock and kills animals by ripping apart their limbs.

Though Chupacrabra sightings have never been confirmed in Texas, earlier this week two strange and ferocious looking animals resembling canines were spotted and killed. A rancher in North Texas told his local news station that he found a dog-like creature when he heard some strange growling noises. After encountering the "ugliest creature he has ever seen" the rancher called Animal Control.

Animal Control Officer Frank Hackett was called onto the scene and proceeded to shoot and kill the mysterious beast. This is the second creature of this kind to have been found in the Texan area.

The Chupacabra myth have been enchanting and terrifying people in the Americas for quite some time. Sightings are said to have occurred in Puerto Rico, Mexico, and the United States, especially in Latin American communities. Chupacabra sightings have been claimed as early as 1990 and have been found from Maine to Chile. Not much is known about such an animal and scientists have had no choice but to call it a contemporary legend.

However, Texans are in a fright as pictures of the creatures that were shot and killed are surfacing. Furthermore, search engines like Google have experienced an increase in searches relating to Chupacabras since the news broke out yesterday.
