Are Your Clothing Choices a Direct Reflection of Your Mood?

Experts in the fashion industry, and even some psychologists argue the point that you are drawn to your wardrobe selctions for the day, based upon the mood you are in in that moment. Think it isn't true? After reading the descriptions below, think about it the next time you are reaching for that yellow top. Chances are there is a hidden reason why that shirt spoke to you that day. Does it make your bustline look great? Sure. But it probably has more to do with your mood than anything else!

Red: If you are reaching for something red to wear that day, you secretly need or are feeling power and energy. Red is great for people in the sales industry or anyone giving presentations. It commands attention and awareness.

Pink: That pink floaty skirt is calling your name for a reason. Pink clothing represents a feeling of purity and feminity. If you are feeling calm and centered and "all the world seems right," you will probably choose something pink.

Orange: If you are feeling or wanting to feel confident, you will choose something orange. Orange also represents warmth and inner-contentment, so if you have a particularly large workload ahead of you for the day, you may indirectly reach for something orange to wear, as it will give you that confidence boost to get you through the day.

Yellow: Gives off the feeling of youthfulness and vibrancy. If you are feeling playful and uninhibited, you will inevitably reach for yellow. An unseasoned professional will always look more credible wearing something yellow.

Green: Radiates a feeling and sense of harmony and calm and is the best color for appearing credible and trustworthy.

Blue: Blue clothing choices represent a divine feeling of peace and tranquility. Ironically, with blue clothing choices, people tend to choose blue clothing not because they are feeling peaceful, but on the contrary, are feeling a bit disheveled and out of sorts. Blue clothing brings back a sense of calm to the wearer, and to the people that interact with them on that day.

Purple: Expresses power and creativity. Purple is a fantastic color for business meetings and presentations and will always land you respect.

Brown: Represents a feeling of practicality and dependability. People who choose to wear brown are often looked at as approachable and trustworthy.

Black: Although many people, women especially, live to wear black, reaching for a black garment choice actually denotes creativity. You may be subconsciously feeling less confident or worrisome, and have a need to feel justified or understood.

I bet you'll look at your clothing choices a little differently, the next time you open your closet! It may be a quick lesson in self-reflection. Who knew?
