Being in a relationship, a girl is always curious when it comes to her future with her significant other. It could possibly be not just the girl but the guy as well. Many times the question arises; What is the difference between a promise ring and an engagement right. Some women feel like they should receive both before marriage and others think they are the same thing. Here we will compare the two. Describe the meanings, and differences. Let's start with the promise ring. A promise ring is a symbol that shows the love of two people. It is a symbol that tells, not only them, but others that the couple has decided to share their love for each other for the rest of their life. It shows this couple is destined to be together for the rest of their life. The promise ring is an initiative to marriage.

Some promise rings have different designs. There are many that have a heart or even two hearts intertwined with each other, representing the couple has given their heart to their significant other. Not all have hearts. Others may have diamonds, but the diamonds are smaller than that of an engagement ring.

A promise ring can also be a symbol of friendship. It doesn't necessarily have to symbolize love between two people, but that is generally to reason behind them.

A man would sometimes have to result in buying a promise ring for his lover if he could not afford it. This would be a "place holder" for the engagement or even wedding ring.

On the other hand, it is known that an engagement ring, is a symbol that a woman wears to show her engagement to her significant other. It is worn to show her commitment to be married.

Engagement ring come in different sizes and styles, as do the promise rings. Some may have one diamond with a different band style and form, while others may have a larger diamond with other smaller diamonds surrounding the bigger one. The style of the ring is dependent upon the liking of the person wearing it.

Looking at them to, it appears that a promise ring can symbolize more that one thing, where as the engagement ring symbolizes one thing, and that is commitment and honor to be married. A promise ring could be for friends, or couples. They are a cheaper version of and engagement ring and a place holder for they wearer until the man can afford to get an actual engagement ring.
