Are You Concerned About Pharmaceuticals in the Water?
Do Drugs in Drinking Water Pose a Threat to Our Bodies?
Many people are starting to realize that the quality of their drinking water is not quite up to par, and that for many years the water companies have been lying to them about how clean their water really is. The fact of the matter is, most water processing plants to not have equipment that is advanced enough to properly filter our water and leave many contaminants behind. Contaminants such as lead, chlorine, pesticides and herbicides, VOC's and pharmaceuticals are being left in our water supply and finding their way into our homes and bodies.
With more and more people being prescribed prescription drugs every year, the level of drugs in the water continues to increase almost exponentially. Just a few of the pharmaceuticals in the water supply are antibiotics, anti-depressants and birth control medicine, however there are also many, many more trace elements of drugs in the water as well. Unfortunately, since this is a relatively new development and issue, scientists are unsure of the long term effects that these drugs in the water are going to have on our bodies. One thing everyone seems to agree on however, is that the effects are not going to be good.
As of now, the amount of both prescription and non-prescription drugs in drinking water is minimal, and measured in parts per billion or trillion. This of course is far lower than a standard medicinal dose, so it's not as if drinking a glass of unfiltered water is going to dose you with someone else's medicine. However, as the amount of pharmaceuticals in water grows, the amount we ingest is going to grow as well. While there are some locations where you will not find prescription and non-prescription drugs in drinking water supplies, for the most part, this has become a major issue for most towns and cities across the country.
Without proven statistics of what pharmaceuticals in the water will do to the human body, many people feel there is no cause for concern. Many others feel that seeing as how the level of drugs in water is so low, they couldn't possibly be harmed by the trace amounts of these medications that are present in the water supply. But realistically, there is no way of knowing what type of effects these water contaminants are going to cause, and it is certainly better to err on the side of caution and take the necessary precautions to prevent your family from drinking contaminated water.
Fortunately, water filtration technology has come a long way, and many modern and advanced water filtration systems can work effectively at removing harmful contaminants like pharmaceuticals. Most water processing plants use old fashioned methods like reverse osmosis, or use toxic chlorine to cleanse the water. These methods are ineffective at properly removing most contaminants from your drinking water. If you want to make sure your family is getting the highest level of quality drinking water, purchase a multi-stage water system for your home, that has been proven to remove pharmaceuticals and drugs in water as well as many other toxic contaminants.
Water is important to our bodies. Your family is important to you. Why not make sure that they are protected from contaminated drinking water. While have prescription drugs in the water now may not seem like that big of a deal to you, in 20 years you may find you have serious health issues because of it. By then it will be too late. Why not take control of your drinking water now, and prevent these issues further down the road?
