Are the Dixie Chicks Splitting Up?

I like My Dixie Chicks Just like They Are Thank You!

Donald Pennington
Some time back, country sensation The Dixie Chicks, made a few splashes in the shallow end of the swimming pool by criticizing our then-lubberly President George W Bush-issimo. A few of the waders were told they should be upset by the comments and so they started splashing back at the Dixie Chicks, especially the beautiful Natalie Maines.

Hah! Betcha didn't know I was a Dixie Chicks fan, did ya? Especially that Natalie Maines!

In my humble (yeah right) opinion, it's Natalie Maines, that made the Dixie Chicks all that they were. Not that Martie McGuire or Emily Robertson are without talent themselves, but that Natalie was the fire brought to the campground. She's the flame that burnt their rear ends.

Is Natalie leaving the Dixie Chicks?

There are rumors, according to Viva Nash Vegas, that there is talk between the two sisters that maybe Natalie Maines will be left out of the next production. Are you kidding? Wasn't Natalie a part of that last album, "Taking The Long Way," that just flew from Emmy to Emmy?

Are the Dixie Chicks still facing pressure from the Bush camp?

It wouldn't make sense if they were. Bush isn't president anymore. If anyone is still holding a grudge against them, it's that: a senseless grudge. If anyone's still affected by Natalie's comment, and subsequent retracted apology, then maybe Bush has kin-folk in the recording industry. Either that, or some of the mouth breathers who got mad the last time, are still hurt. Who knows?

What was everyone all pissed about anyway? I thought we had freedom of speech here in the US. I'm just sayin'...

Might the Dixie Chicks become the Dixie Duo? And which one gets to dress up as Batman?

Maybe with any luck at all, Columbia Records will realize the Dixie Chicks don't carry the same flavor without Natalie. A recipe for a cake, that calls for eggs but has none, will not come out like a cake is expected to!

Natalie Maines can just pack her happy suitcase, go move in with Sugarland, and live happily ever after before she needs to let this type of an undeserved slap-in-the-face keep her down. She carries all of the real talent in the Dixie Chicks. Natalie is a talented star on her own...and she's the one with a real body. The Dixie Chicks losing Natalie Maines will be irrecoverable as "the Dixie Chicks." Those two would do better to change the band name.

I've just never seen such atrocious spelling. You're probably a very bright fella. But genius without learning is like gold still in the mine.

Are you on drugs, Mike? Mind sharing with the rest of us? Heh. Thanks for reading.

UPDATE: For those who care to know Emily and Martie will be performing as the "Courtyard Hounds." Hmm...

They are not my cup of tea, but thanks for the info.

Not really my kind of music, but I do remember that they came to perform when I was in basic training.

I think it would be a shame for them to break up. And I didn't think they were anti-American, just anti-Bush. There's a distinct difference!

  • Charlotte Kuchinsky1/18/2010

I thought they were dead after all their anti-American stuff. I never listened to them.

Good article, but I'm not a fan of country music. A like a few of the older songs, but that's about it.

The George Bush-Issimo...lol. I like that.
