Are you your dog's best friend? Dogs need our love and devotion. They do not judge us and they do not get mad. Some dog lover's are convinced their dogs can read their mind. I have two labs that are always looking to get a massage. If I am too busy they don't get mad. I know people who have little dogs and big dogs and many of them have not been trained properly. Happy dogs are well behaved obedient dogs.
I can walk the neighborhood with my two dogs without a leash. We can walk past other dogs and people and the dogs listen. My youngest lab named Roux was initially trained by the clicker method. This method was very successful in getting him started in his training. As he got older, I decide to try a training collar. My wife was very much against this method because she thought it was painful and cruel. I accidentally zapped myself with the training collar and found out that it really just like static electricity. It was not painful but it does get your attention. I am not surprised it works so well on my labs. I got the model which allows me to control the strength of the stimulation. I can also give only the tone if I choose. Most of the times I do not even need to activate the collar. The dogs behave very well and the only time I need the collar is if there is a cat in the vicinity. Roux does not like cats. Finn the older lab is much more laid back.
What ever method you choose to train your dogs, please train them because they will be much happier and so will you.
