Are Free Online Gambling Sites Really Free?

The Answer May Surprise You

Those who are a little short on cash and want to take advantage of free online gambling sites may wonder if those free online betting sites are really free. After all, as the old adage goes, if something sounds too good to be true it probably is, but is this the case with free online gambling sites? Maybe they rake in astronomical amounts of money from ads and can afford to give away hundreds or even thousands of dollars each day. Those wondering if free online gambling sites really are free need to take a few issues into consideration and learn how it really works. Nothing is truly free, and everything comes with a price.

Do Free Gambling Sites Really Pay?

Do not count on winning real money when gambling online for free. What complimentary online gambling sites are trying to do is show you how easy it is to win - when real monetary prizes are not at stake. It is a game and nothing more. In the meantime you will be bombarded by colorful flashy ads, but the ads are promoting online gambling sites that are really not free. Real money is at stake, and after convincing players that it is very easy to win on the free sites, they are hoping those players will take the next step and enter the world of real online gambling. That is how they make their money. For some it turns into an addiction, and for others, far more is lost than money.

The Odds of Winning

Online gambling is a billion dollar business, and these companies do not stay in business by giving away free money. Sure, some people really do win to keep the sites on the up and up, but just like those playing the lottery, the odds of winning are not in the player's favor. It is easy to get caught up in online betting. Just one more play could mean the difference between being broke and hitting it big, but that is how it begins and unfortunately how it ends. Trying to win just one more time turns into multiple plays that cost real money, and pretty soon you find yourself broke.

Do yourself a favor and forget about online gambling or any type of gambling for that matter. Go for the sure thing and start an interest-bearing savings account with the money you would have risked gambling online. Otherwise, be prepared for disappointment over and over again. Unless someone dies and wills their money to you, money is never free. Just like any activity that can become an addiction, online gambling within moderation is okay, but if you are caught up in the chance of hitting it big time and time again, in the end you will lose in more ways than one.

According to Gambling PhD, June 11, 2008 online publication, online gambling rakes in $15 billion a year. It's a business, and online gambling sites are in business to make money, not give it away. The odds are not in your favor!

Bobbi: That's great that your father was able to go to Monte Carlo because of paying gambling sites, and it is true that free sites offer practice, but some people can't control themselves and it becomes a serious problem. I know of someone who was married to a gambling addict, and life for her was a trip, but not a trip to a beautiful destination. Life was hell. They were always broke, and he lied repeatedly about where the money was going. His problem that he refused to seek help for cost them a marriage. It can happen to anyone.

Your last paragraph sums it up. This is dangerously addicting and lots of teenagers are getting involved.

    I wondered about these sites.

My father is a hard core on-line poker player and only had the opportunity to go to Monte Carlo for free because of the paying gambling sites. I think the free gambling sites are for those trying to learn the game and improve their skill.

I don't gamble so I don't get the whole thing, actually. I know, I'm weird.
