Are You a Home Business Shark or a Minnow Caught in the Feeding-Frenzy

If you feel like every other home business opportunity you see on the Internet is a scam, you're probably right. There are a lot of hungry sharks out there feeding on the dreams of the new and hopeful home entrepreneur.

One of the worse things you can do when starting a home business is to NOT know how to run a business before you start. Particularly when it comes to Internet marketing. You can literally waste 1000s of dollars in advertising before you ever see a dime in return and if you don't know how to track your ads all the way down to the actual sell then you should not be spending money for advertising at all. The first thing you should do when you enter a new home business venture is to test your ads with free advertising.

Make no mistake about it. When you start a new home business the odds are against you and YOU ARE TAKING A RISK. So beware of people telling you how easy it is. If you see phrases like "Start Making Money Today" or "You Could be Making Money In 15 Minutes" Don't believe it! The only way this is even remotely possible is if you already have a huge presence on the Internet among the billions of other websites out there or you have a massive mailing list that already buys from you on a regular basses.

It takes time to build trust in business especially when it comes to Internet marketing. When you are a home business newbie it's like being a newborn minnow swimming is a huge school of vicious sharks all ready to pounce on your bank account the moment you give up your name and e-mail address. Believe me. It pays to be skeptical in this game.

The harsh reality is that most new home business ventures will fail and the only way you will ever make real money on the Internet is if YOU BECOME THE SHARK.

Once you adopt the attitude of a leader who is responsible for your decisions AND YOUR BUSINESS then, and only then, can you make the kind of real money your prospective "sponsors" have been telling you about.

You must be determined to learn what it takes to become the shark.

However, if you're going to be a shark, have some integrity and actually try to help someone. People do not buy from you because you have a clever ad or a flashy banner. People buy based on the feeling they get about YOUR character . So be an honest shark.

The Good News is once you become an honest to goodness shark, you can make money on practically any product; service, affiliate program or MLM you care to join.

So don't give up on your dreams of freedom and home business prosperity just yet. All you have to do is get yourself properly educated.

You could spend a few 1000 dollars on a personal mentoring program where a consultant will take you by the hand and show you exactly what to do.

Just beware of some of the pseudo gurus out there or you could find yourself in a situation where the blind are leading the blind.

You could enroll in one of the better online universities specifically designed for home business owners. One I highly recommend for beginners is the "30 Day to Success Guaranteed" course by Stone Evans's, author of DotComOlogy, a free e-book I highly recommend.

His 30-day step-by-step guide gives you a solid foundation from which to advance while helping you build several streams of income in the process.

For more advanced lessons in the proper way to run a successful home business I would recommend Matt Morris' Success University for entrepreneurs. The tuition is reasonable and comes with a referral program built in to the program so you could actually get paid to learn how to be a shark.
