Are John Mayer and Jennifer Aniston Dating Again?

John Mayer has made the rag sheets again because of some statements that he said at a concert. The statements led audience members to believe that he is dating Jennifer Aniston once again or wants to. The two dated twice in the past and Mayer has publicly stated that it was very difficult for him to get over her. He is fighting the rumors this week using his blog and Twitter account. John Mayer denies any current involvement with Jennifer Aniston and says that the statements certainly were taken out of context.

John Mayer was able to avoid being in the tabloids for much of his early career. It wasn't until he started dating people like Jessica Simpson and Jennifer Aniston that he got his face in there frequently. He was truly dedicated to his music and he said that he didn't want to do things like date celebrities. John turned his back on his previous ways and used the media to become even more popular than ever.

The thing about John Mayer is that he is really smart. He knows how to make himself popular, whether through good press or bad. These days, almost anything goes, and a lot of people still like him despite the fact that he used the n-word in a Playboy interview. Also in the interview, he dished on his ex-girlfriends. He did not come out of it looking like a role model, but Mayer kept himself in the press and that is probably what is important in his mind. John also added to his rock star appeal by being a "bad boy."

It's sad because of the fact that John Mayer is such a good musician. He doesn't need to date people like Jessica Simpson or Jennifer Aniston to be popular. Many people claim that he is this generation's Eric Clapton. Being compared to a legend is no small feat, so why can't he take his fingers away from his Twitter account and put them where they should be--on guitar strings?
