Are You Kidding?

Are You Kidding? A phone call to the doctors office a few days ago went something like this:
Me: Hi, I have a problem and I need to make an appointment with the doctor.
Receptionist: She isn't here today. She's only in this office on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
Me: Good, could I make an appointment for tomorrow?
Receptionist: No, you have to call back tomorrow.
Me: Are you kidding?
Receptionist: No, thanks for calling, dial tone......
Hmmmm. I guess she wasn't kidding. Not only did I not get an appointment, but I felt disappointment at not getting anywhere.
A few months ago my doctor ordered blood work. I received a bill from the lab for over $1,200. I couldn't believe it. I called the doctors office wondering what the results were. The receptionist told me "if no one called you, then everything is okay." She must be clairvoyant---she knows someone looked at the results. A week after that, my doctor sent me to a specialist. I'm still waiting to hear the results from those tests that I would hear from the "next day".
I'm not sure what's going on in each of these doctors offices, they must be busy and over worked.
It occurred to me how blessed I am to get answers from the Lord. When I pray, He never puts me on hold. He never puts my "test results" in a pile on His desk. He is my constant companion.
2 Corinthians 12:10 Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ's sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

This happens too often and is frustrating to patients.

Great article. I have been seeing more and more offices moving to where they do have certain appointments they fill up with routine type appointments and then leaving several appointments that can only be made that morning that they reserve for "sick patients". Although this irritated me originally when I was on the receiving end of one of those "sick patient" appointments with a small child I was grateful I didn't have to wait a day with a screaming infant before they could see the doctor for what I knew was an ear infection! Thank you for the article!

People have forgotten how to respect and show sincere consideration for each other.

Cheryl, thanks for your advice. I did ask them to send me a copy, and she said she would be happy to, but that was weeks ago. I think the best thing for me to do is just sit down with the doctor in each case. I do have follow up appointments-----I'll be able to find out then. Thanks for your concern, and help!
    Hugs

I hope everything is o.k. I experienced the same thing and got the same response. Try calling and telling them (not requesting) you want copies of your test results, which you are fully entitled to and then say I need them today if possible. Don't give them a chance to dominate the conversation. I did this and they asked when I would be by to pick them up...
