Well, unfortunately, I am one of them. I have been mad at God and just this day. See, in a moment my flesh forgot that God is my provider and He knows what is best for me and therefore I got mad.
I hate that I did, but I am being open with you because I want you to see that I am not superwoman. We all go through times when we struggle believing God will take care of our needs, God knows when is the best time for something to happen. We make idols of money, of our children, our spouses, or careers, and more.
You know what paganism is? It is choosing everything else to be god, but God! We have our idols. Money today is one of them especially because of the economy. We go to work early and we go to bed late, just so we can get up and do it all over again. We are miserable. Most people hate what they do, but do it because they feel like they have no choice.
The Bible says in Psalm 127 that it is in vain for one to get up to work early and go to bed late because to his beloved, to His children, He gives bread during sleep. Now isn't that what most of us want, to make money whiel we are asleep? But, the Bible says, He gives to His beloved one like that. Who does? God. Our source. He is our source. But He gives to His children like that.
Yes, I know that God wants us to work. It is commanded in the Bible, but I want to let you know that if we seek the Kingdom of God only, He will add to us the rest. Matthew 6:33 in Greek doesn't say to seek first...it says to seek only. Could it be that we do not have because we have been taught to seek a little bit God and then our interests. Do not get me wrong: God is not against us working hard and having fun, but what we do is it included in that "seeking the Kingdom only"? Kingdom mean: dominion of the King. He rules all the time. So paraphrased that verse would be something like this: " Look for, make sure that you have the tule of the King in everything you do and have , His rule only". Now that sounds more like God than " first", because we know God wants to be King only and He wants to rule only, not first and then some other gods rule. Right?
So, we need to lay aside the anger. The problem is not God. It is between our two ears. We let our minds rationalize and rationalize and rationalize and analize and analize what we should only simply believe. Our thinking is hindering us from receiving anything.
God does know what is best for us and He knows our future. We, most of us,do not. It is time to trust God. One of the things I do to encourage myself when I doubt is to remember George Muller. Yes, it is easier for me to think of a person that lived closer to our century then those "HUGE" saints in the Bible that seemed to be so perfect.
George Muller set out to prove to people that God's word is still true and works today. So, what did he do? He never asked anyone for anything, let alone borrow! He jsut prayed for everything and God will provide for him. He had orphanages with children that did not have the next planned lunch. George Muller prayed and minutes before having lunch he received the food. Most of us would stress and whine and cry and worry. I do.
You see,l I told God that I cannot do what George Muller did. I cannot live like that. I need to know when my next paycheck comes and how much is it, too. Of course it is nice and stress-free to live like that, but God never promised us that. He said He would take care of our needs. Hebrews 13 says actually to not be lovers of money because He Himself said NO WAY He is going to leave us or forsake. You hear that? NO WAY! But God is a liar! At least that's how we live. With shame I act like that too, often. Yet, the only thing God cannot do is lie.
What a lesson is this for me today. I am writing this for you, but it is actually for me. No way, He is going to leave us. No way!!!!
We cry for the things we do not have. Jesus, said, if we have what to eat and live on today, that is enough. Today's stuff is enough. Yes, it is nothing wrong with saving and leaving your children and inheritance, but Jesus came to show us a different way of life. Worry-free life.
You have food today? You have a place to sleep? You have a car or means of transportation? Well, then it is enough. Tomorrow, will take care of itself. Now right here lies the promise: tomorrow will be taken care of. That is all you and I need to know. We are not sure how will it be taken care of, but we know He said it will and " NO WAY!' He will leave us.
Just seek to have in your life ONLY the dominion of the King. Let Him take over every aspect of your life. He said, " NO WAY!"
George Muller received from God only through prayer of stuff worth millions today. His WORD still works today. It worked thousands of years ago and it did 200 years ago and it will work tomorrow. Pray and believe. God hears us. Stop letting the devil lie to you that you are not special, that He cares more about others than you, and that maybe there is something wrong in your life that you do not see answers to your prayer. He has no favorites. Just believe!
Yes, live in obedience. Obedient children are blessed. But do not beat yourself over once you repented, changed your ways, and He has forgiven you. He loves you and He said, " NO WAY!"
