Are Minority Coaches Getting the Wrong Deal?

College Sports and High School Sports!

Recently teams in the NCAA D1 and D1 AA, which are now known as the sub division of D1- has had coaching terminations. They studies have shown that less than 5% of the coaches in all of college football is African American descent. There are about 26 assistant coaches at major university coaching as assistants, with a disturbing low of 6 head coaches. If this doesn't make matters any worse there are even low numbers of minority Athletic Directors or University presidents.

So many frustrated coaches and prospective minority coaches are getting mad and holding sour foots to the process that is going forth with hiring of some of these collegiate schools. The level of hiring practices also triangles down to the high school level as well. There are not enough minority coaches in the high school level, and the ones with the knowledge of the sport gets over shadow because of lack of job experience. With we are not willing to allow a person to demonstrate that they have experience to coach in these levels how will we eve know if they can coach.

Most of the Athletic Directors in the NCAA are looking for a coach that will bring revenue to the school with name quality coaches or recycled coaches. These coaches jump from job to job in all aspects of the coaching field leaving prospective minority names off the board. Some people say that the media has a strong pull on where and what some coaches go or do, and if this is the case maybe the media should start placing minority names on the board for coaching positions.

If this doesn't work then maybe Universities and colleges should start hiring minorities as Athletic Directors. Maybe coaches should start recommending other coaches to job in the field, and stop placing higher standards for minority applicants then they would place on some one of there race. Espn has announced that there were 9 coaching openings in their coaching carousel- with four of those jobs being filed within 5 hours of the posting.

Is this a fair policy of hiring practices, I truly don't think so. If a team wants to create the fairest way of getting the coaches interviewed and talk to them. Respond to the inquires of a prospective coach, how are they going to know if this guy can coach at that level.

Independent research have come to a conclusion about some collegiate coaches not responding to some of the minorities submitting online letters of interest applications with interest in the job. If we are not giving minority coaches that added chance like some of the top coaches of the other race then will we ever have another Eddie Robinson. Eddie Robinson is a minority coach that has coached in the most games in college football history.
