Are Olivia Newton John, Kenny Rogers and Priscilla Presley Related?

What Do You Think of All the Plastic Surgeries that Celebrities Are Getting?

Shana Dines
I hate to sound bitchy but are Olivia Newton John and Kenny Rogers related? I saw photographs of Olivia in some news rag, the before and after. I could say she is beautiful and more youthful looking, but she looks rather plastic and unmoving. Remember Kenny Rogers and his plastic face? Well they look very similar to me now. Did you see Priscilla Presley on the interview with Oprah with her daughter? Priscilla looked younger than Lisa Marie. It was frightening.

Maybe I am just jealous. Olivia is 58 years old and looks 15. I am 57 years old and look 57 years old usually. I also look 60 on a bad day and 50 on a good day. You can also tell when I am happy, angry, sad, confused or perplexed. Is that a bad thing? Yes I would like to look younger, but I don't want to be unrecognizable. I also don't want to pay thousands of dollars to look like a teenager. I also don't want to have a complete overhaul, which is what I would need to look that young. What about my poor husband, would he have to have all that done to him too? I personally would rather have a new car with that kind of money and I would like my grandchildren to recognize me when they come to my house. I don't think my kids would appreciate having a mother who looks like she could be their kid!

Maybe I am old-fashioned, I am definitely jealous. Maybe I am not. I worked hard for this body. I worked hard for every line in my face. I still color my hair, after all I only want to look so old. I also wear make-up and dress in style. Yes I wear a bigger style and more comfortably but I don't wear clothes like my grandmother used to wear. Wait a minute my grandmother was Mennonite, of course I don't dress like she did.

Getting to the point has the youth craze gone too far? Even Oprah, who is into accepting yourself the way you are, but being the best you can be, is constantly harping on youth and beauty and botox and now plastic surgery. There is no competing with that lifestyle. I am not saying I want to, but it is really depressing sometimes to open a magazine, watch TV or movies and see people who are older than you looking like they are teenagers. Just curious does anyone else have a problem with this? I would really like to know.

Celebrity face lifts are a must, or so it seems.

I have seen Olivia's mom--she was a very attractive woman but clearly looked her age, so as far as Olivia having "good genes from her mum", that may be true, but the youthful 30-something look is helped along, maybe not by surgery, but by Restylane, Botox, etc. Having said that, she looks great, and if she can afford it, go for it--I would in her shoes!

I saw Olivia Newton-John Easterling two days ago up close and she is really beautiful and natural and does not look like she's had any major work done. She's got great genes.

I just saw Priscilla Presley on Access Hollywood. She looked so young that I had to rack my memory and check wikipedia to check whether Priscilla was the ex-wife of Elvis Presley or the daughter of Elvis Presley. This woman is 4 years younger than my mother, but on the TV looked a plastic 22. It's quite scary. I appreciate my mother's looks. She's a beautiful grandmother. I feel sorry for Ms. Presely who obviously has so much of her self-worth wrapped up in her looks and youth. There is so much more in life worth fretting over than looks.

If you are happy with the way you look, that is great. If you are not happy, and have the means and funds to change the things you don't like, I say go for it.

I am also 57 years old (with a 43 year old husband who loves my look, by the way). Like you, I look "old" when I am tired, but youthful when I have rested, or feel excited by something. Sex makes me young looking and girlish too.
Why is it that men in our society can age gracefully and manfully, in full view of everyone? No one worries about Peter Mansbridge's thinning hair or facial lines. Women will not be fully liberated until they are allowed to age as naturally as men can, with no sniping by anyone.

Great article. I think our society is too concerned about appearances and these older people who look like teenagers just look ridiculous. Looking your age comes with benefits. Younger people respect you more. People are more polite. Heck you even get the discounts without having to ask or show your I.D. I just do not understand why people want to pay someone to make them look creepy.

yes steve I agree I know a lady who had a face lift a few years ago and her cheek bones look creepy and yet she doesnt even look young. there are some that look good, but there is definitely too much of a good thing, yuck, thanks for response

Good article. I agree with what you say. Plastic surgery can also be dangerous and disfiguring. Even a simple facelift severs many nerves in the face area.

Kudos! Who wants to look plastic (not that there aren't a lot of surgically-enhanced young ones, too)?
