You can add any type of decoration on the paper lantern such as write something with markers, paints, glitter material or any other innovations of your choice. Once you have decorated the bag place it on the floor and add 6 full cups of sand. Now you can add a small candle into the bag but make sure it is inserted ½ inch further into the sand. Once you are done light the candle and place it anywhere you want.
Avoid fire hazards
You can make your children learn this as it would improve their creativity. But make sure that you do not let your children get hurt from it. The children have very little idea about its fire hazards and it can be deadly. Make sure you spend the time with them teaching them how to avoid these problems. The paper lanterns must not be placed in a place from where it might catch fire. Do not place them near curtains, beds, materials that catch fire, laundry, etc. The pets are also another threat for the fire hazards, they would love to touch the dangling light and cause problems. Make sure you place these paper lanterns out of their reach. Prevention is better than cure.
