Are Parents Being Ignored Over Dropped Program of Royal Oak School District?
Neighborhood: Royal Oak
Royal Oak, MI 48067
United States of America
I spoke recently with a few parents of students in the Royal Oak School District that believe that their inquiries into a dropped program are being ignored. Andrea Knox and Stephanie Lender both believe that they have been ignored by the school district in their inquiries into the stopping of the, "Over the Fence," program.

The, "Over the Fence," program was a semi-regular series of postings through the Royal Oak School District's website where rumors, or potential rumors about the school district were quenched by postings addressing them. The last posting in the program was back in March of 2010.

Both mothers have been to Royal Oak School District meetings and written emails about the stopping of the program. They believe that when they asked questions at the School Board meetings that they were ignored. Stephanie Lender stated that, "All schools are rumor mills. Part of the rumor passing is on the inside of the buildings from the kids, and the rest is on the outside from the parents. This was a useful program that they dropped, and have not explained why. We think it was a good program."
