Are Partial-Birth Abortions Fair?

When confronted with the question of pro-life or pro-choice, I stand in the middle. As wishy-washy as it sounds, I am pro-choice, but I am also pro-life. I think it is very important that all women should have a choice regarding their bodies, but someone has to stand up for the thousands of innocent children who are aborted each and every day. Are partial birth abortions really fair?

Research shows that most women that have partial birth abortions do so because the doctor suggests it is better for the woman's health or because the baby is going to suffer from a birth defect that might not be compatible with life. I have two children of my own that old the key to my heart. I could not imagine hearing a doctor suggest to me that I receive this procedure for my safety or because the child may have some birth defects. The truth is that many doctors will suggest terminating a pregnancy if any moderate to severe birth defects are suspected. There have been women that have been told they are carrying a baby with a birth defect and when the child is born, the medical staff find that the child is perfectly healthy in every way.

The process of a partial birth abortion is rather cruel. Because it is usually done in the later months of pregnancy, there is a great chance that the baby could be born a living being. For mothers that do this for their own selfishness, the baby could have been placed in a loving adoptive home. During a partial birth abortion, the abortionist will deliver the baby in a breech position so that the head remains inside of the birth canal. Once the body has been delivered, scissors are jammed into the back of the baby's neck and a hole is created. At that time, a vacuum is used to suction the brain of the baby out. The rest of the body is then delivered and the baby's life has been taken. This tiny, living baby has not harmed anything and its life is being taken away before its even born. One step away from breathing on its own and making a grand appearance into the world, death is being confirmed. My question to you is: How is this fair?
