Are You Pregnant: 5 Things to Look for Very Early on in Pregnancy

Erin Rivera
While most women in the past had to rely on missing their period as a sign of being possibly pregnant studies have shown there are symptoms you can look for that can help you determine early on if you are in fact pregnant. Most women pass these symptoms off as signs of an on-coming period but for those who are waiting for that big positive they can use them to help them decide whether or not they want to test early on or just wait. Here is a look at five early signs of pregnancy.

1. Fatigue. If you are feeling extra tired or as if you just cannot get enough sleep during the night this can be a sure sign you may be in the very early stages of pregnancy. Many women say they feel a sudden urge to just want to sleep constantly or that they have a very hard time getting out of bed in the morning because they feel so tired. Even the smallest of chores can tire them out. It's important if you think you may be pregnant or you are trying to get pregnant to go ahead and take prenatal vitamins. This can help with the fatigue.

2. Cramping. This is another sign of early pregnancy that is often passed off as a sign of upcoming period but in fact many women experience a mild to moderate cramping early on in pregnancy. Your uterus may contract quite often especially if you are doing activities such as exercising. This may alarm some women but it is actually very common and unless there is bleeding or it becomes severe one should not worry.

3. Tender Breasts. Tender or aching breasts are actually one of the more common early symptoms of pregnancy. Women may find they can get relief by buying an extra supportive bra. The reason for the tenderness and aching is due to the high amount of hormones. Luckily this is one symptom that goes away once the body gets used to the high amount of hormones.

4. Frequent Urination. Are you running to the bathroom a lot more than usual? This is another sure sign of pregnancy. Many women assume that they will not experience the frequent urination till later on in pregnancy such as during the third trimester but you can actually begin experiencing it in the beginning. Avoiding drinking liquids after 7 p.m. can help prevent it somewhat during the middle of the night. The frequent urination can be attributed to those rising hormones once implantation occurs.

5. Light Spotting. While this particular symptom may not occur in all pregnancies it is very common for many women. You may experience what is called implantation bleeding which is very light and a pinkish/brown color. It does not last long and should not get heavier. Normal period bleeding may start out light but you will notice it gets heavier and may get darker. Implantation bleeding remains light and does not get darker in color.

If you suspect you may be pregnant because you have any of these symptoms you can find out early on by taking an early pregnancy test. These are great for determining pregnancy even before you miss your period.
