Emergency situations only seem to come up when you are broke. Everything seems to go fine until the money to cover the basics is barely available to you. Having the money to feed your family then wondering where it went is a horrible feeling. When things go wrong it can be stressful but when there are those around that make assumptions about your income it can be annoying. I have no idea what I am going to do now but I do know that there is something that I can do.
That was how I felt at recent car trouble that left me wondering how to make it through the month. I made the dreaded decision to return to private clients to ensure that I made it through the month without stressing out over getting everything taken care of. I picked articles that were about subjects that I have experience with. The thirty of them still took me six of the seven days I had to complete them in. There were only four revisions required of me during the entire process.
I'm happy with that since they had to be sent in sets of five to ten at a time but toward the end I didn't feel like writing them anymore. I began to listen to more and more music on You Tube instead of focusing on the articles I was writing. I began to wonder why I was losing my focus when I needed this client to be happy. I found the answer rather easily when I took the time to think about it.
I found that I was rather upset at having to go back to working for someone else because of an unexpected emergency than because I wanted to go back to them. I was upset that after almost a year of focusing on my own writing when I found the time in order to make up missing income in important areas that I had to take a short lived project and realized that I now have another decision to make.
I reopened my savings account approximately a month ago in order to come up with the money to pay for a lab test for my child. I still have the minimum to keep it open in it and managed to earn the money to cover the lab work without adding funds to the savings account. There are things that we have to get done and putting the money in savings is a good way to have it all done at once. We also need to have emergency funds again to prevent getting in a real bind if something goes wrong.
The last week as I found myself trying to find the time to work on my project, take my child to her daily appointments, and get whatever else I needed to do done I felt my stress levels rising a little more each day. The realization that while I can make better money working for private clients simply because of time restraints the problem comes in when I try to find the time to work. I still want to move.
The problem with moving is that I have to get rid of what we don't use, need or want first. Then I have to find storage containers to move what we need to keep in. I'm running out of space in the house and have been for a while. I keep wondering just how I'm ever gonna get rid of enough of this stuff to move as far away from here as I can get but I don't see a solution coming anytime soon.
I have decided to see just what it would take to earn a living with and without private clients. I have goals and the only way that I am ever going to meet them is to sit down and determine exactly what has to be done in order to do so. I am determined to remain home for at least another year. I am also determined to take a vacation before my youngest daughter begins kindergarten regardless of how many days of therapy we have to miss to do it. I only have to get her to the point that she will be willing to go enjoy time without a routine.
In the meantime I will continue to work from home and change things constantly to make that possible.
