They have chosen Christina Aguilera to sing the national anthem, which I think is a good choice. Fans always like to see an attractive young lady on stage and she has had a decent year. She starred in the movie Burlesque, which came out in the fall and did okay at the box office - about $55million. Lea Michele, who plays Rachel Berry on Glee, will sing "America the Beautiful" before the game as well. I like this choice even more than Aguilera.
On to the commercials and to find out what the big name companies have decided to do with their overpriced products. Just imagine how much cheaper Pepsi could sell soft drinks if they quit advertising. Anyway, Hyundai is one of the biggest advertisers this year. They are really trying to market their cars in the US and take advantage of Toyota's slight mishaps lately. Hyundai has 3 ads scheduled to air during the big game.
Despite the auto industry woes of late, there is no dearth of car advertisements. GM also has 3 ad slots for the super bowl. Kia, Audi, Volkswagen, CarMax, Cars.com, Mercedes-Benz, Chrysler-Dodge, BMW, and Bridgestone, all in the auto industry, also have ads scheduled. As usual, we can expect something cute and clever from the companies known to consistently produce good ads - Budweiser, Coca-cola, and Pepsi. GoDaddy.com has also done a lot of advertising lately and always seems to produce something sexy.
