Are Residents Complaining Too Much About the Noise in Ferndale?
Neighborhood: Ferndale
Ferndale, MI 48220
United States of America
The truth is it's a city, there is going to be noise. Determining what is acceptable and what isn't is the problem. Ferndale has been trying to build up its revenues by opening more businesses in the area, but with all the complaining from residents, will there be a chance to bring in revenue? The complaints last summer came mainly from those who lived behind and around the local establishments. If they are going to bring more business to the city, how is this going to sit with new business owners trying to get their companies started. While the residents didn't have enough clout last year to change the noise ordinance on the ballot for the final vote, they are working on it this winter.

The residents didn't complain about just restaurants, but they also made complaints about truck noise and noise from the Kulick Center basketball courts. The question is: when is it too much complaining. The Kulick Community Center supports and provides activities for the youth in the area. It gives them a place to go to stay out of trouble and excellent educational programs to improve children's learning. Will Ferndale speak out about the new ordinances and support the good that is in Ferndale, or will it continue to complain - lowering revenue for the city? Only time will tell.
