Jody Morse
Many pregnant women make the decision to continue having a sex life after they have become pregnant. In many cases, this is considered a perfectly natural and healthy thing for a pregnant woman to do. What about using sex toys while you are pregnant? Is it safe? Can it cause any birth defects or other problems? Here, we will take a much closer look at whether or not it is safe to use sex toys during pregnancy.

Are Sex Toys Safe to Use During Pregnancy? - Doctor's Approval

We are constantly hearing that it is not unsafe to have sex during pregnancy. However, this is not always the case. There are some circumstances in which it is important for you to make sure that you refrain from having any type of sexual penetration during your pregnancy. One such circumstance is if you are at risk of having a premature labor, as having an orgasm can cause you to have contractions. Before making the decision to have any type of sexual contact during pregnancy, which also includes using sex toys, the best thing that you can do is talk to your doctor about it. Don't automatically assume that it is safe for you to have sexual contact, but if your doctor says you are able to, you should keep in mind that it will also be okay for you to use sex toys during pregnancy.

Are Sex Toys Safe to Use During Pregnancy? - Amount of Pressure

One of the most important things that needs to be taken into consideration is how much pressure you will be using when you decide to have fun with a sex toy. It is important to keep in mind that a sex toy will typically provide much more pressure than the flesh of a human will. If you should make the decision to go ahead and use a sex toy during your pregnancy, the best thing that you can do is apply a very minimal amount of pressure. It is important to make sure that you are not being forceful with a sex toy while you are pregnant.

Are Sex Toys Safe to Use During Pregnancy? - Pain or Discomfort

If you choose to use sex toys during pregnancy, the most important thing that you should watch out for is pain or discomfort. Should you notice any pain or discomfort, even if it is very mild, then the first thing that you will probably want to do is discontinue the use of sex toys while you are pregnant. The next thing that you may want to consider doing is making your doctor aware of the fact that you have experienced pain or discomfort and why. Though it is unlikely to happen, your doctor may want to examine you to make sure that there has not been any damage caused by the sex toy.

Overall, it is safe to say that sex toys can be safely used during pregnancy. The only circumstance in which it is really not acceptable is if you are unable to have sexual intercourse or have an orgasm during your pregnancy. The most important thing that you can do if you decide to use sex toys while you are pregnant is be very cautious. Take notice of any pain or discomfort that you may experience and use your best judgment. If using a sex toy during pregnancy doesn't feel right to you, then you may want to avoid it.

Sex toys can be great if your pregnant! It really helps if your having it natural. Please carefully on the other hand sex toys have to be clean and kept in place where dust and other particles won't get on it! This would not be a good time to catch any bacterial or yeast infections while pregnant. Just because your pregnant you should not be excluded from "all" the fun. But in the same token safety and cleanliness comes along with the territory. Use toys the whole 9 months if you could. In other words it has the best of both worlds. Medically and sexually! Great Topic! Kudos given!

Super job of dealing with a topic that many people might wonder about but wouldn't have the courage to discuss with a doctor, necessarily. You covered the information so well!
