Are You Taking Prescription Pain Killers?

A Few Things You Should Know

Jason Freeden
Prescription pain killers are great forms of remedies for your pain, but what you do not know is that they can be very dangerous. Were you playing basketball one day, when one moment you had crossed over your friend while going to the basket? Well, you jump up, slam the ball into the hoop, when all of the sudden you come down on the wrong side on your ankle. Oops, you have now just rolled it, which is a very painful thing to do, believe me I know very well. Rolled ankles can either not be serious at all or a very serious condition, depending on how severe you injured it.

If the pain doesn't subside and\or the ankle swells up greatly, you will more than likely need to go to the ER (Emergency Room). Me more than probably anyone on Associated Content know what the ER is like. I have had a bad wrist for a while now and have been to the ER quite a few times, when the pain in unbearable. If my doctor isn't in, or he is on vacation, which happens to be a lot, I have to head to the ER for relief from the pain. Now I have been on certain prescriptions such as Vicodin© and Percocet, but you need to watch out as you are taking them.

Prescription pain killers are a lot stronger than your over-the-counter medications, this is why they are a prescription. As a matter of fact, if you head over to Mexico and a few other counties, you can purchase these powerful medications over-the-counter. I must say that this is rather funny because I myself know how strong these pills are. Narcotics, which is the proper word to describe these drugs, refers to opium, opium derivatives, and of course their semi-synthetic or fully synthetic substitutes, which include other drugs such as cocaine, etc.

Vicodin© and Percocet© are two of the more popular prescription pain killers out there, but they also serve a much different purpose than just helping your pain. Narcotics are popular for producing a very intense form of euphoria, which basically means you feel absolutely amazing. Euphoria is an intense state of happiness, which some experience in different ways than others. Many people believe that the euphoria that is produced when taking narcotics is a way of forgetting about the pain, but the ingredient in these powerful pain killers is simply acetaminophen. The acetaminophen has nothing to do with the euphoria however, just that it takes care of the pain.

The value of having these prescription pain killers are very good, but only if you are taking them as prescribed. Many people in the same household will try and steal the pain killers so they could take them, but that is where it also gets dangerous. The rules are that you should throw away any unused pills, but many people keep them in case of an emergency. Anyhow, the percentage is increasing at around 75 %, this is the amount of people who are currently abusing pain killers. It's a sickness that can be treated very well. If you or a loved one is suffering from this, seek help from your doctor. Please do not hesitate because he will want to help, believe me.
